I had a minor problem with the various Wisconsin infoboxes: various villages were mislabel as towns. As you know many of the Wisconsin towns have the same names as the cities and villages-hence the confusion and mislabeling. Also many of the Wisconsin towns articles do not have any infoboxes and this adds to the confusion. As always I hope you are doing well-many thanks-RFD (talk) 13:31, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject NASCAR for a Signpost article to be published this month. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Also, if you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 20:45, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Inside Wikipedia, what do you do when you have two editors reverting each others revision because they want the article to be how they want? --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 00:48, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
I am not having a problem with a editor again like last time, but I am having problems. I check NASCAR.com / ESPN.com / Jayski.com to update the article. When I am not editing it IPs and other editiors with only few edits are adding unofficial items. What should be done (if anything) to stop this. Semi-Protection maybe? Leave as is? I'm not sure. --Nascar1996 Contributions / Guestbook 01:37, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi! I you are well. I redirected the old town of Bristol, Kenosha County, Wisconsin to the Bristol, Wisconsin article the village of Bristol voted to annex the remaining town. Okay one of the editors revert this saying it had to be kept for historical purposes. We redirected the old town of Rochester into the Rochester, Wisconsin article when the village voted to annex the old town and there was no problems.Help-please-thank you-RFD (talk) 18:38, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Hello! Your submission of Nelson Stacy at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Hello RoyalBroil, I'm conducting yet another NASCAR GA review here :). Nascar1996 is quick to pick up on past suggestions (which is good), so I'm finding it increasingly hard to provide helpful tips for article improvement. May you please take a look if you have a minute? Thanks, Airplaneman ✈ 16:04, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
For Kulwicki's article, do you want to open a peer review or just use the talk page? My first comment: why are there refs in the lead? Ideally, it should summarize the rest of the article; therefore, the info presented in the lead will be repeated later on. Airplaneman ✈ 19:50, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
On 23 August 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Nelson Stacy, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Royalbroil? What does that mean? If you answer, may I suggest answering on my page because I don't browse others' user talk pages much. While you are at it, may I ask you a random question? Article of the month – 2010 Food City 500, a recent good article
The 2010 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee was the fifth race of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. The race began at 1 p.m. EDT on March 21, 2010. The 2010 Food City 500 was televised on Fox and broadcast on PRN radio. This race marked the last appearance of the rear wing on the Car of Tomorrow, with the spoiler returning the following race. This race also was the first of three in Carl Edwards' probation following his altercation with Brad Keselowski at the previous race at Atlanta Motor Speedway; Keselowski was sent airborne, subsequently crashing on his side door. The race had 13 different leaders, 39 lead changes and 10 cautions. The race attendance of 138,000 marked the end of a long streak of sellout seats at the track, which has a capacity of 158,000. The race had been a sellout since 1982. (More...) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I decided to take sometime off from starting new articles. I had been keeping track of Roman Catholic bishops who died and then starting stubs for them. I did one for an Italian bishop and in minutes some bot came back saying it was a copyright violation. It was not-it involved some about WP's MIRROR. I got it taken care of. Is it normal to have a love-hate relationship with these bots? It is one of the few times I wanted to say something nasty to a bot but have not. Article of the month – 2010 Carfax 400, a recent good article
The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway. There were five cautions and nineteen lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race, Harvick's third win of the season. The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. A total of 105,000 people attended the race, while 4.917 million watched it on television. I have edited the IndyCar season infobox for the capability to include the new oval/road champions that the series has seemingly introduced to the series (like so). Lately I have seen a lot of additions to city articles where people have been adding to the "notable people" section. My thought was that a notable person for a city, should be someone who did something notable TO/FOR the city. eg.. A mayor, the founder, a major leader, etc. But looking at the people added, we are adding anyone that had anything at all to do with a city: Were born there, lived there for 2 years of their life, played football there for 3 years, or owns a fancy home there. How are these things "notable" to THE CITY? Do you have any guidance from wikipedia on what we should be doing with this. If we keep going this way, the "notable" section of city articles will be huge. Should we start organizaing the "notable people" section into subcategories? Thanks. Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article
Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams. After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. I do get occasional feedback on my talk page, although probably not as much as a regular blue-linked contributor would. Thank you very much.
You may have noticed a few contributions lately in the Wisconsin state parks category. I've been trying to determine the meaning of Location in the infobox for such articles as Blue Mound State Park, Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area, and Potawatomi State Park, among others that I did not touch, but only noticed. To me, location is where something is situated, and not simply just a nearby place, as these three examples depict. Article of the month – Auto Club Speedway, a recent good article
Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) is a two-mile (3 km), low-banked, D-shaped oval superspeedway in Fontana, California which has hosted NASCAR racing annually since 1997. The track was also used for open wheel racing events until 2005. The racetrack is located near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway. The track is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation and is the only track owned by ISC to have naming rights sold. The speedway is served by the nearby Interstate 10 and Interstate 15 freeways as well as a Metrolink station located behind the backstretch.Construction of the track, on the site of the former Kaiser Steel Mill, began in 1995 and was completed in late 1996. The speedway has a grandstand capacity of 91,200 and 28 skyboxes. In 2006, a fanzone was added behind the main grandstand. Lights were added to the speedway in 2004 with the addition of a second annual NASCAR weekend. In 2011 the track will host only one NASCAR weekend. Thanks for adding photos to the articles. When I categorize them on Commons though, I don't add the highway's category unless the photo is used in the article or shows the road itself. Just being a school on the highway isn't good enough, IMHO, unless the road is shown. I also create Category:U.S. Route # in Michigan categories if the articles by that name exist. (US 141, US 8, US 131, US 223 don't have separate state-specific articles.) That way we can use the {{commons cat}} boxes when needed. Imzadi 1979 → 05:28, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I grant that a semi-automated approach can't do a very good job for articles using NRIS alone, if there are no other online resources that can be linked, like using the NRHP nom docs available for some states. For Wisconsin, what's available? My impression is that its NRHP nom docs are not online. But, the documents for about 50 multiple property submissions / multiple resource areas are online, per wp:MPS. If you'd care to develop the NRHP articles for "Ernest Flagg Stone Masonry Houses of Milwaukee County TR" or for "Multiple Resources of Menomonee Falls" or for any other MPS/MRA group, I'd be happy to put starter stubs for all with a properly formed reference included into a workpage which you could cut-and-paste from in starting articles. Adminship has been going well so far, thanks again for nominating me. I generally do take reasonable requests for unincorporated communities. I wrote the article on Gillingham for you and added the images, and I can probably do more of those in the future if you have images for them. I probably can't do any of the places in Michigan, unfortunately; another user usually merges stubs on Michigan communities to their corresponding townships. I don't agree with him on this, but we've discussed the matter and agreed to leave things the way they are. Articles with images might be okay, but I don't want to write a whole bunch of articles just to have them all get redirected. What's your experience been with Michigan articles? By the way, thanks for getting an image along Wisconsin Highway 131; I've needed an image for that ever since I got it promoted to GA status, but I wasn't able to take one. On 25 December 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Derek Lynch, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Derek Lynch won his first NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race during his first full season on the tour? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

The 2010 Sylvania 300 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on September 19, 2010, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. The 300 lap race was the twenty-seventh in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the first race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. Clint Bowyer, of the Richard Childress Racing team, won the race, with Denny Hamlin finishing second, and Jamie McMurray third. Pole position driver Brad Keselowski maintained his lead in the first lap, but in the second lap Tony Stewart pulled ahead. Chase for the Sprint Cup participants Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Hamlin were in the top ten for most of the race, but in the closing laps all of them suffered spins or other problems. Hamlin was the only one to recover and finish in the top five. With two laps remaining, Tony Stewart was leading the race when he ran out of fuel, giving the lead to Bowyer, who also led the most laps in the race with 176. There were eight cautions and twenty-three lead changes among eight different drivers during the race. The race was Clint Bowyer's first win in the 2010 season, and the third of his career. The result advanced Bowyer to second in the Drivers' Championship, thirty-five points behind Hamlin and ten ahead of Kevin Harvick, but because of a penalty three days after the race, he fell to twelfth in the standings. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-two points ahead of Toyota and seventy-four ahead of Ford, with nine races remaining in the season. A total of 95,000 people attended the race, while 3.68 million watched it on television. Hello, I know you're busy with Alan Kulwicki; however, I wondered in the template above should be considered to be semi-protected. I believe that it should, even though its only transcluded on Sprint Cup Series. I don't believe we shouldn't allow someone unexperienced to mess with it. I can be very hard to fix if they do multiple edits. Remember when I asked you if you knew how to add the red square for Kentucky Speedway? (if I did) I used paint to add it. Or should we wait, and see if anyone would mess with it? Nascar1996 01:14, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
