I have noticed on a few articles that you have created that the interwiki links [[fr:french equivalent]] have been placed before the category. I have fixed the ones that Wikiproject Check Wikipedia has identified . Please place the interwikis at the end of the articles you create, thank you.Naraht (talk) 15:24, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

File:H75982.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:HMS Northumberland 1890 USNHC NH 75982.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:HMS Northumberland 1890 USNHC NH 75982.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 13:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

You began the project City of Rome. The project is not completly defunct. I am not clear if you are still running the project or if there actualy is a particular editor that runs projects or if they simply take on a life of their own.
If you have lost interest in the project I wanted to take over and perhaps begin to learn how to expand and build other projects.
If you are still intending to run the project please let me know if my work and changes to templates (Roman Monuments} are OK.--Amadscientist (talk) 00:57, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading File:GWhitehead.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:RomansLanding.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:44, 5 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice?--Jappalang (talk) 04:44, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Francis I of Beauharnais requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article A Clue: No has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Oo7565 (talk) 21:34, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 669 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Can you take a look at this page and fact check and generally improve the page? What on earth is a "Roman Catholic Church painter"? This is an absolutely ridiculous category, particularly as it now includes Leonardo who never painted a church in his life and Cellini who was primarily a goldsmith.
A number of artists on the list painted works on panel or canvas which were used in churches as altarpieces. But very very few of them actually painted any part of a church building. I put it to you that it is a useless category, because no-one is likely to look it up. Not unless they are looking for a skilled tradesman who doesn't mind working on a very long ladder. And I do mean tradesman, not artist. A "church painter" fits into the same sort of bracket as a "piano removalist". A piano removalist isn't an ordinary removalist; he owns a piano trolley and piano straps and knows how to get your baby grand over the appartment balcony and your Flemish harpsichord onto the the top floor of an Amsterdam warehouse. Likewise a "church painter" (Roman Catholic or otherwise) is someone who can do wood grain, gold leaf and intaglio finishes. This "Roman Catholic" stuff has gone too far altogether!
For example, it is the opinion of some that regardless of what church Michelangelo was baptised into, he had actually become Protestant, and this is strongly supported by the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel which contains absolutely no reference to Roman Catholic dogma whatsoever. It is the opinion of others that regardless of what Leonardo da Vinci was baptised, he actually belonged to an heretical sect called the Cathars. There are others who are equally certain that although Leonardo may have been baptised at his father's wish, he was actually raised as a Jew by his mother. (Just think about the long hair and flowing beard at a time when these were uncommon on all but Jews.) Many of the Renaissance painters embraced the Classical Humanist philosophy, and may have been effectively pagans, regardless of what works they were commissioned to do.
The whole category should be disbanded. And as for the recent inclusion of Leonardo as a "Roman Catholic writer", that is ludicrous. Nothing that Leonardo wrote is "Roman Catholic" in nature, except his occassional criticism of the church or monastic life. The category "Roman Catholic writer" ought to include only those people whose works are in some way significant to Roman Catholicism, eg St Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Voragine etc. Amandajm (talk) 09:57, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello there - not sure we've spoken over the years. I was just beefing up Alexander Dow with DNB text (about which you are surely aware), and it occurred to me that you might be the sort of person who might be interested in what we do now over at Wikisource, getting the old DNB posted. Drop me a note if you need to know more/haven't already decided to give this great opportunity a miss. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:23, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Since you have been an active commentator, reviewer or editor of the article Mary Rose, I'd like to announce that it's been nominated for featured article status. I'm just curious, did Louis of Anjou, Marquis of Pont-à-Mousson have any sons. I'm making a list of members of the Capet dynasty, and since you're the only person that has ever edited the page, I assume you'd know best whether he had any sons or not. hi. In may 2007 you made this edit to HMS Duke of Wellington,
You state that David Beatty was commander of Wellington from 1900 to 1902. Now, other sources for example, http://www.admirals.org.uk/admirals/fleet/beattyd.php suggest he was on sick leave for these 2 years with an injured arm after being shot at Tsientsin, and do not mention even a placeholding command such as a port ship. I don't know if you can help by saying where the info comes from? (yes, I know, its quite a while ago...) Sandpiper (talk) 10:37, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading File:IMG 6953.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi,
I am would to contribute to the Roman cities page, especially the ones in Romania.
But I am not sure I understand the categorization. Are you adding the old roman names and then links to articles about the ancient cities, or the current names and links to modern city article?
The Roman towns and cities in Romania has a mix of modern names/articles and ancient names/articles. My suggestion would be to have both old and new, and links to both old and new
Related to it, here is a list of Roman cities from Dacia/Thrace List_of_ancient_cities_in_Thrace_and_Dacia#Roman
Also, is there anywhere a complete list of cities, regardless of country, similar to the page on Dacian cities?
Thanks

I recently came across the article William of Nassau (1601–1627) and left a post on the discussion page proposing its renaming to "William of Nassau-Lalecq". After some further digging I noticed that you renamed the article from its original title "William van Nassau, heer van de Lek" which also seems better than what the title is now. I have given my reasons for reverting to the old title on the discussion page. I suggest we continue the discussion there.--Ereunetes (talk) 21:08, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

... Egyptian Institute of Sciences and Arts to Commission des Sciences et des Arts. Hope you don't mind. I felt the former name created confusion with Institut d'Egypte -- the two have their overlaps anyway! and I haven't encountered "Egyptian Institute of Sciences and Arts" in other sources. Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 00:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

In response to your edit-summary here – I feel obliged to point out that while it perhaps should not have been described as "bollocks", no part of WP:V says that having once been wrongly called "bollocks" is grounds for inclusion. One thing, if you based that plot section on the content of the German article, to comply with the CC-by-SA license you'll need to make note of the source in an edit summary. See the WP:Copying within Wikipedia page for more on that.
