Celebrity Images
Hi Mailer diablo,
I am back again with a query.I just came across a user User:Tony619 who has added numerous images of scantily clad celebrities to many celebrity pages. Though most of the images qualify under fair use as they are magazine covers but I feel that they are not suitable to be displayed on Wikipedia. Moreover in most of the cases he has added images to pages which already had an image. I have left a message at his talk page but I dont know the policy of wikipedia on such images. Thanx for the quick response. The reason that I didn't mark them for deletion was pecisely that Wikipedia has no guidelines for such images. In any case, I felt that adding such images on every page doesn't make sense. If the content of the page requires those kind of image then there is no problem. Moreover why add another image when there is already an existing image on a page until and unless the other image depicts something important. Here are some of the images where the user has added an image where already another one is existing.
Hah....seems rather rare to see you online, but I really need your advise in the issue of moving imaged to the commons. I listed my imaged in Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion since August 1, and they are still there. Did I do anything which isnt following proper procedures? Abby Hayes
Heya. Just to let you know that you made a mistake on the Abby Hayes vfd. It's not a vanity page, because Abby Hayes is the protagonist of a popular American series of children's novels - I think >11K Google hits is enough to disprove the "non-notable" claim, yes? To be fair, the article was extremely poorly written, focusing almost exclusively on the character's personal life to the near-total exclusion of the fact that "oh, by the way, she's a fictional character". And you're a male Malaysian college student in Singapore, not a twelve-year-old American girl, so you wouldn't know about the books (and neither did I until I googled). Unless you're one of avid the supporters of the rules lawyering, autocratic, foaming-at-the-mouth inclusionism that was flaunted at the RfC of Tony Sideaway you can't possibly interpret obne vote to keep' against four delete or merge votes as no consensus. I redirected the page in question and I would be most grateful if I wasn't forced to VfD it again after only a week or so.
I saw you closed Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/SFTPPlus with "dealt with as a copyvio". I actually skipped that one as I was not sure what to do with, so I'm glad to see what has happened. However, you didn't remove the VfD notice of the article SFTPPlus itself. I got a bone to pick with somone about a deleted artical
How the heck do I go about that. You are associated with the artical in that your name shows up in the deletion stuff. It's about AR15.com's artical. I'm new to this whole place andmost of what looks like links and stuff to help you figure stuff out are just not helpfull at all. Could you point me in a direction as to where to go so I can log my complaint. I find it full dis heartening that AR15.com would be deleted while an artical on Democratic underground.com is not. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Hi Mailer Diablo. I believe you are responsible for the deletion of a Wiki page for Melbourne, Australian band 'Sacre Bleu!'. Please undelete this page as there is no valid reason for its deletion. The page was not a vanity page. Sacre Bleu! is a fascinating band and are worthy of a mention on this Encyclopedia, just as much as any other band. I am a fan who has an interest in collecting, adding and reading information about this band on Wikipedia.

Certainly the FA-ization was controversial; it's had repercussions here for example. I can understand that somebody could object to FA-ization (and I'm even willing to entertain the idea that FA-ization was wrong), but a FARC is not the way to go about it: FARC clearly tells us Do not list articles that have recently been promoted-such complaints should have been brought up during the candidate period -- and "recently" surely extends to a single day. If the IP had carefully and politely given his reasons why the FA-ization was wrong, I'd say that his posting this there was a simple oversight of the FARC rules, and I'd recommend shunting his comment somewhere else. But as it is, with no reasoning, this looks like sour grapes. ("Bad faith" is too grand a term.) However, there seems no need to speculate on his motives. My objection has been forwarded here by Grutness, but nothing has yet happened: one possible explanation is that there are just so many damned "incidents" that this one got lost in the deluge! -- Hoary 10:59, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Playboy Cybergirl of the Week
Hi there Mailer Diablo,
thank you for completing the deletion process of this page.
There were numerous other pages (which still seem to exist) linked from this page which were
about women whose main claim to notability was that they were playboy cybergirls.
These were all created by the same person who created the playboy cybergirl page.
Most or all these pages also had images from playboy which may violate copyright.
Is it going to be necessary to nominate each page of this collection individually,
or can an admin like yourself just go in and sort things out in one go?

I disagree with the speedy deletion of this article. Although it had failed AFD once, from what I can tell, the content of it the second time around was significantly different -- not an attack page, but factually written from NPOV (however, not being an admin, I am unable to see what was written the first time). The singer has an allmusic entry, with three albums, which although minor, was good enough for me to bend the rules established in WP:NMG. Please reconsider. I agree with the speedy deletion of this article. The article was considered under discussion and closed on June 2. The article was improperly restored by not following the rules on the discussion page, therefore it qualified for speedy deletion. In addition the talk page for the deleted article was locked because the article was continuously restored improperly in contradiction to Wikipedia guidelines. The article content recently deleted was not signifigantly different from before the first deletion in June.
The criteria for listing a musician in Wikipedia is shown below. Meade Skelton has not been signed by a major label or important indie lable. Any CD's shown were self created vanity efforts, he has not been recognized by any music label or any music industry trade publications. His entry on Allmusic guide was by Meade Skelton himself, so the Allmusic web page is subject to erroneous information. He has done nothing of notability as indicated by the Wikipwedia guidelines and therfore should remain deleted.
This page gives some rough guidelines which we might use to decide if a musical topic is notable.
Many of us who spend a lot of time improving Wikipedia's musical coverage feel that notability is required for a musical topic (such as a band) to deserve an article here. Please note that the failure to meet any of these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted; conversely, the meeting of any of these criteria does not mean that an article must be kept. These are merely rules of thumb which some editors choose to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to keep an article that is on articles for deletion.
Also, please keep in mind that the article in question must actually document that the criterion is true. It is not enough to make vague claims in the article or rant about a band's importance on a talk page or AfD page -- the article itself must document notability.
Musicians and ensembles
There are a lot of bands, singers and other musicians and musical ensembles with articles in the Wikipedia (see category:Musicians).
A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, dj etc) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:
Has had a Top 100 hit on any national music chart, in a large or medium-sized country*
Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in a large or medium-sized country*
Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)
Has been prominently featured in any major music media
Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise extremely notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such
Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or the local scene of a city (or both, as in British hip hop); note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability. November 6, 2005

Airkz Images
What is an Airkz Image? - I tagged a number of images from the Lino Ventura article and someone else then deleted them from the article. I will revert them back so you can see. I listed them for Speedy Deletion because they were all fronm a single article and the rule of Wikipedia on Upload File states for Screenshots it is limited to "one per article." Yes, about north shore, CA. The reason I recommended it for deletion is because 1 i couldn't find it on google and 2 It is a real thriving town on the northern bank of lake arrowhead (also in California). While her article is important, I think the article name belongs to a living thriving city. I was going to write an article about it in conjunction with the neighboring city Blue Jay, CA. When I went to write it I found that the link had been taken by an abandoned city that was not the North Shore I was talking about. I want to write an article about the North shore near Lake Arrowhead. Do you have any suggestions about how I could do that? Please respond using the link above.
North Shore, CA
Well this could be a problem. You see, though I understand that the page Lucky wrote is a real place, North Shore is the name of another place in CA. This city is not empty, it is thriving, it has it's own postal code, it is a local tourist attraction. Plus the fact that my Blue Jay, CA article has a link that is meant this neigboring city, my north shore, actually goes to a dead city in another jurisdiction, Lucky's north shore. Both subjects are worthy of a wikipedia article, but they both have the same name. What do I do?
As you may have noticed, nobody objected the arguments at the bottom of the comments page - TWICE. The negative comments at the top are older than the lengthy arguments at the bottom. If you are unsure, let's have another round of debate around this article. As I understand, at least two people who have commented on the article agree with me. Nobody was able to refute either my or their arguments.

Hello! Thanks for contacting me! I've seen these used by a couple of other sysops so far, and there don't appear to be any problems.
I designed {{afd-mergefrom}} for placement on the article's talk page (hence the "CoffeeRoll" coloring). My reasoning is that it's appropriate to add a large, colored tag to an article that's intended to become a redirect (just as we do with {{merging}}), but it's preferable to avoid adding such a banner to the surviving article (which generally is in no danger of deletion).

Hi, I know back-seat admin advice is not always particularlly welcome. But you might want to reconsider the decision on Opera Field. Out of eleven votes, there were only four keep votes (two made by the same anon IP) and the other two by editors with very few edits. As of today, one had twelve edits (the first was to the AfD on this article) and the other has only five, none of which are to articles. Out of he others, six indicated some sort of merge. Why was the article Elizabeth V. Lodal deleted?
You left no comment, and I posted on the talk page a question to which nobody who voted to delete the article could provide an answer -- I viewed the issue as unresolved. Why was this article deleted? There was no copyvio problem (only people who hadn't read the website in question's copyright policies thought so) and it was notable, certainly more notable than some other articles on wikipedia. How does having the article up hurt wikipedia? TJHSST is a public magnet high school (consistently ranked #1 in the country) to which thousands of teenagers apply each year, while only 400 are accepted -- isn't information on the school's principal relevant? Right, and that makes sense -- however, I do not believe that the page in question is copyrighted. I guess what really bothers me is the haphazard method in which articles are deleted. Thanks for your calling of the result on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alireza Rahimi Boroujerdi -- one of the many neglected task categories. I note, however, that you did so 112 hours after my nomination. That's 8 hours short of five days of time, clearly short of any fair interpretation of the "five days" of the policy.
I think, in light of the uncontroversial nature of the deletion, that this needs no remedy. (In more contested cases, i would reopen it for one more full UTC-midnite-to-midnite day -- and harbor misgivings about there being some basis for an aggrieved participant to argue that anything short of 120 uninterrupted hours is insufficient!) In future case like this one, however, i urge you to be as far above reproach as "Caesar's wife" must be, in this activity that can be among the most inflammatory that admins are called upon to perform. In fact, the interpretation i favor and strictly adhere to myself is that 5 days means the passage of 6 UTC midnites. My logic is that this
avoids slip-ups by letting those calling results process a full one-day subpage, based (usually) on the fact that the day of month has increased by 6,
yet ensures that any user can avoid missing the chance to participate in any AfD debate, unless they let 120 hours or more pass without checking AfD.
You will note that such a standard of accessibility was cited as grounds for the sensitive decision for reduction of the length of debate to five days.
I hope you'll act in the future to ensure a firm basis for user's confidence that the timing, at least, shows a conscientious concern for doing deletions fairly and "by the book". --Jerzy•t 15:45, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
