I am a PhD candidate in Media Studies and Politics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
I examine the politics of the media; political culture, government and media wartime information dissemination practices; political ideology and propaganda; class, race, ethnicity, and gender portrayal in the media; relationship between media and power; alternative and community media; media sociology and news production; media and democracy; media ethics.
I love politics and I love the media. I love to read (even in my spare time) especially history and researching/analyzing cultural, news, and political phenomena. My goal is to discover as much as I can about how we come to think the way we do about race and class.
From my perspective, along with YouTube, Wikipedia is one the greatest collaborative learning inventions in the last 100 years. I always enjoyed reading Wikipedia and, despite uninformed and paranoid judgment by some educators, have found the majority of articles to be well-researched and well-written. It is a modern tool that can be used effectively or abused as any tool can. Like many of those who participate on Wikipedia, I would like to see Wikipedia establish a well-earned reputation for educational leadership, accuracy, and for being forward thinking.
