The first version of DeSmuME was French , later users translated DeSmuME into English . The original developer had stopped at version 0.3.3 due to a change in the French legislation for emulators. The amendment to the law turned out to be a April 1st joke , but the developer stopped anyway. After this he had made the DeSmuME code public
DeSmuME supports save state [1] (ability to save the game at any time), the possibility to change the screen size and filters to improve the image quality. DeSmuME also supports microphone use on Windows and Linux ports, as well as direct video and audio recording. The emulator also offers a built-in movie recorder. You can take a screenshot, add a game to the GBA slot, and pause or resume the game at any point. It is also possible to play the game at an increased speed.
DeSmuME X432R is a fork of DeSmuME, which supports higher render resolutions than the original console.[2]
