Previously, the school operated as two separate institutions: QSI International School of Shekou (蛇口科爱赛国际学校) and QSI International School of Shenzhen. QSI Shekou served students aged 2–18, while QSI Shenzhen enrolled students aged 2–13.[1] As of 2018[update] it is one of eight schools in Shenzhen designated for children of foreign personnel.[2]
History
QSI International School of Shenzhen-Shekou was established in 2000[3] and began accepting students in August 2001.[4] The school was founded as part of Quality Schools International (QSI), a network of international schools aimed at providing American-style education to expatriate communities worldwide.
In August 2006, a second campus, QSI International School of Shenzhen,[5] ater renamed QSI International School of Shenzhen-Nanshan, opened to accommodate the growing student population.[6] The expansion reflected the increasing demand for international education in Shenzhen, driven by the city's rapid economic growth and its appeal to expatriate families.
To further meet student enrollment needs, a new campus in the Nanshan district was planned and scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.[7] Over the years, the school has continued to expand its facilities and academic programs, offering a curriculum based on mastery learning and an international perspective.
Campuses
QSI Shenzhen operates multiple campuses to accommodate different educational levels.
- Upper Primary Campus – Located in the Bitao Center[note 1] on Taizi Road,[note 2][8][9][10] this campus serves students in the upper primary grades.
- Lower Primary Campus (PLE Campus) – Situated on the same road as the upper primary campus, the PLE campus is dedicated to early childhood and lower primary education.
- Secondary Campus – The secondary school campus is located on Gongyuan Road, providing facilities for middle and high school students.
Former Campuses
Previously, QSI Shenzhen operated campuses in different locations across the city:
- TCL Science Park, Nanshan District[11] – One of the earlier locations of the school.
- Honeylake, Futian District, – Another former campus, situated near the Shenzhen Celebrities Club, adjacent to it.[5][12]
Each campus is designed to support a diverse international student body, offering modern facilities and educational resources aligned with QSI’s curriculum.
