It features the character Aika, a black magical girl who is not interested in being one, and her best friend Zira, a "high school loser" geek girl who is obsessed with magical girls. Other major characters include Aika's star companion Hoshi, and antagonists Eclipse and Lady DeVoid. According to the Kiana, all the major characters are LGBTQ in some way.[2]
Since its February 2025 release, the ten-minute pilot has received 3.0 million views.[3][4]

The pilot follows fifteen year-old Aika, a self-proclaimed “normal girl of average talent”, as she begins her first day of high school. While talking with her new friend Zira in the cafeteria, Aika’s ordinary day is interrupted by the entrance of magical villain Eclipse. When Zira tries to protect Aika from his attack, Aika is forced to reveal herself as magical girl Star Guardian: Guardian of the Stars. Though Zira is delighted by Aika’s magical girl identity, Aika herself is unenthusiastic, and quickly dispatches Eclipse using a lead pipe summoned by wishing upon her star-shaped magical mascot, Hoshi. After his defeat, Eclipse teleports away and converses with the one who empowered him, Lady DeVoid. Though she is initially disappointed with his efforts, she is pleased to hear that he was able to find Aika.
