Mianeh County (Iran)

Not to be confused with Maneh County, Miandoab County, Miandorud County, or Miyan Jolgeh County.

Mianeh County (Persian: شهرستان میانه),^[3][a] is in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Mianeh.^[4]

History

The city of Torkamanchay^[b] is where the Treaty of Turkmenchay was signed by Russia and Iran in 1828.

After the 2011 National Census, the village of Achachi was elevated to the status of a city.^[6] In 2024, Torkamanchay District^[c] was separated from the county in the establishment of Torkamanchay County.^[5]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 187,870 in 46,469 households.^[7] The following census in 2011 counted 185,806 people in 52,630 households.^[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 182,848 in 57,665 households.^[2]
