Jiří Fichtl (16 February 1921 – 12 November 2003), was a Czech chess International Master (1959), Czechoslovak Chess Championship winner (1960), Chess Olympiad individual medalist (1958), European Team Chess Championship team and individual medalist (1957).

Jiří Fichtl has participated in international chess tournaments since 1943. In 1910 he was one of the strongest chess players in Czechoslovakia. Jiří Fichtl nineteen times participated in the final of the Czechoslovak Chess Championships and in 1960 became the winner of this tournament. In 1959, he was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title.[1]
