On the September 30, 2021 episode of Impact!, the Impact Digital Media Championship was introduced and it was announced that an intergender tournament will be held with the inaugural champion being crowned in the final at Bound for Glory. The first round matches aired on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Impact Plus and on YouTube for Impact Ultimate Insider members, before being distributed to the public across all social media platforms 24 hours later.[3][4] On October 23, 2021 Jordynne Grace won the intergender six-way match tournament final to become the inaugural Impact Digital Media Championship holder by defeating Chelsea Green, Crazzy Steve, Fallah Bahh, John Skyler, and Madison Rayne at Bound for Glory.[5]
On January 19, 2025 at The People vs GCW, an event promoted by Game Changer Wrestling, TNA Digital Media Champion PCO appeared. During a unplanned segment, he destroyed the championship belt and announced his depature from TNA.[6] Five days later, TNA crowned Steph De Lander as the new champion.[7]

The original design of the Impact Digital Media Championship design is Silver with Gold indented thick lines with Red indented diamond shaped jewels on the sides with two side plates per side equaling to a total of four side plates, with one center plate. The center piece has the words Digital Media Impact Wrestling Champion in the middle with the words Impact Wrestling in the middle center in the color gold and with a red square shaped box in the background only surrounding the words on the outside of it in the very center with the words Digital Media indented above the word Impact Wrestling with a black square shaped box surrounding it as the lettering is gold and the word Champion under the word Impact Wrestling with the same black shape square box design with gold indented lettering.[12]
As of February 7, 2025, there have been 12 reigns between 12 champions. Jordynne Grace was the inaugural champion. Grace is also the youngest champion at the age of 25, while PCO is the oldest, winning the title at 56. Joe Hendry's reign is the longest at 266 days, while Laredo Kid's reign is the shortest at 29 days.
Steph De Lander is the current champion in her first reign. She was awarded the title on the January 23, 2025 episode of Impact! as result of her "divorce" from previous champion PCO. In reality, PCO's TNA contract had expired.
