Prince du Sang and Duke of Châtellerault From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
François de Bourbon, Duke of Châtellerault (1492 – 13 September 1515) was a French prince du sang from the House of Bourbon-Montpensier, a cadet branch of the House of Bourbon (itself a cadet branch of the Capetian dynasty). He was the brother of Charles III, Duke of Bourbon (also known as The Constable of Bourbon).[1]
François de Bourbon was the third and youngest son of Gilbert de Bourbon, the Count of Montpensier, and Clara Gonzaga.[2] François, as duke of Châtellerault, attended the coronation of Francis I of France as a representative of the Duke of Guyenne.[3] François was killed in action on 13 September 1515 at the Battle of Marignano against the Swiss.[4]
