Federação de Futebol do Distrito Federal

Federação de Futebol do Distrito Federal (FFDF) is the governing body for football in the Brazilian Federal District. It was founded on March 16, 1959, as the Federação Desportiva de Brasília (FDB) and has undergone several name changes over the years:[2]

  • In 1971, it was renamed Federação Metropolitana de Futebol (FMF).
  • In 2004, it became Federação Brasiliense de Futebol (FBF).
  • Since November 2015, it has been known as Federação de Futebol do Distrito Federal (FFDF).

The FFDF is responsible for organizing all official football tournaments within the Federal District, including the Campeonato Brasiliense, its lower divisions, and the Campeonato Brasiliense de Futebol Feminino. It also represents local clubs in the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF).[3]

Leadership

The FFDF has been led by various presidents over the years. As of 2017, Daniel dos Santos Vasconcelos serves as the president.[4]

Campeonato Brasiliense

The FFDF oversees the Campeonato Brasiliense, commonly referred to as "Candangão." In 2025, the tournament is celebrating its 50th edition. The competition features ten teams:

  • Brasiliense
  • Capital
  • Ceilandense
  • Ceilândia
  • Gama
  • Legião
  • Paranoá
  • Real Brasília
  • Samambaia
  • Sobradinho

The 2025 edition commenced on January 18, 2025, and follows a single round-robin format, with semifinals and a final match scheduled for March 29, 2025.[5]

Youth and Women's Football

The FFDF places emphasis on youth and women's football development. In 2024, it organized the 2nd Super Copa Capital Sub-17, which featured 16 teams. Athletico-PR won the title.[6]
