Jackson Mutero Chirenje (July 10, 1935[1] – September 23, 1988)[2] was a Zimbabwean historian. He was born in Mudzimuirema, Chihota, Rhodesia. He served as Secretary of the African Teachers' Union of Rhodesia in 1961. He received a B.A. in history from Boston University, an M.A. in history from the University of California at Los Angeles and a PhD. in history from University of London.[3] He taught African history, African philosophy and Afro-American history at Harvard University.[4][5] He was a senior lecturer and chairman of the history department at the University of Zimbabwe.[6]
