The Hawks finished the 2022–23 season 16–17, 8–10 in A-10 play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place. As a 10th seed, they defeated Loyola Chicago in the first round of the A-10 Tournament and George Washington in the second round before losing in the quarterfinals to Dayton.
