The 2007–08 season was Ross County's first season back in the Scottish Second Division, having been relegated from the Scottish First Division at the end of the 2006–07 season.[4] They also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

Summary
Ross County finished first in the Second Division[5] and were promoted to the First Division.[4] They reached the second round of the Challenge Cup,[6] the second round of the League Cup[7] and the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.[8]
Management
The club started the 2007–08 season under the management of Dick Campbell,[9] who had been appointed during pre season following the resignation of Scott Leitch.[10] On 2 October 2007,[11] Campbell was sacked as manager[12] with player coach Derek Adams being appointed as temporary manager.[13] Adam's position was made permanent in November.[14]

The winning team were awarded a place in the 2008–09 First Division, Clyde won the play-off to stay in the division. However, with Gretna being relegated to the Third Division, Airdrie were promoted to Division One.
