Hi and welcome to wikipedia. I noticed you had a blank talk page, so I decided to welcome you. I hope you like it and decide to stay. Here are some handy links for newcomers.
Also you can sign your name on talk pages and vote pages with three tildes like this ~~~, and your name with a time stamp with four like this ~~~~. Howabout1 23:20, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome! I've actually been a regular Wikipedia user for nearly two years but hadn't really got involved in contributing until earlier this year. Yummifruitbat 23:32, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
I saw your post on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Babel#Skills_other_than_languages
I think it's a great idea. I'd like to create something like this for hobbies, sports, etc.
One could create template such as User_Sports_Football, User_Sports_Fencing, etc.
Are other people interested ? I'd like to contribute Gsch 23:37, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Hello. Sorry to bother you, but your post at Wikipedia talk:Babel#How does one create the graphical template for lesser known indian languages seemed both helpful and knowledgeable. However, I failed to understand the example shown well enough to be able to create other templates "the right way" for other languages and skill levels.
Can you help me create (or create yourself) the following templates and categories?
(Apparently level 4 is so recent that it hasn't yet spread everywhere.)
Tonymec 06:24, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Hello, there. I've been using some of the stuff under Category:User languages. (I added User organ, and I'm using it on my user page.) Recently, CyberSkull contributed some templates to Babel, which automate some of the formatting. Inspired by this, I did some work of my own for User instruments. I've notified everyone using the User instruments Babel stuff in their user pages that I plan to rework the templates. I thought I would tell you too, even though you're not even in any of these categories; you did, after all, start the thing if I'm not mistaken. So take a look at User:Ddawson/User instruments and feel free to comment. Ddawson 21:21, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi, you gave some good comments on my image peer review (Wikipedia:Picture peer review/Chambord). I've now uploaded the original image for your tips on postprocessing :) Stevage 10:00, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of which, is it possible to now move this image back over the one I originally uploaded? Image:PanoChambord2 yfb edit3 downsampled.jpg is a pretty awkward name :) Or perhaps even simply reupload it as "Chambord façade.jpg" or something? Then presumably it would be ok to move the FP star to that version, and point to it from the FP list wherever that is. Just wanted to check that was ok with you before going and doing it. Hi Yummi - very nice pic, but it is a Japanese Larch pollen cone, not a fir cone :-) MPF 09:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi! You supported the Hummingbird Hawk-moth FPC (like everyone else who commented), but HighInBC uploaded an edit that absolutely no-one commented on. I can't promote the image without knowing which version to promote, so now I have to ask everyone which version they prefer. Would you mind specifying which image you are supporting? Thanks. Wanna step aboard and make the CP-project move again :) ? Denisoliver 21:46, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Your Featured picture candidate has been promoted Your nomination for featured picture status, Image:Hacha grande from papagayo pano.jpg, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. |
Congratulations, and thanks for taking it for us. Raven4x4x 01:46, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
You commented on this animated GIF's Featured Picture nomination. I'm considering a redesign to incorporate concerns raised but I need more clarity. Please see User talk:John Reid/Pi/Unrolled#FP?. Thank you. John Reid 08:44, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for your comment. I've answered you comment on the FPC page. No offence was taken and I'm glad you took your time to vote. Thanks again Arad 14:46, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I've nominated your image Image:Ford fiesta mk5.jpg for featured picture status. Please see Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Image:Ford fiesta mk5.jpg for discussion. Regards, howcheng {chat} 16:52, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi Yummifruitbat,
Glad that the advice was useful to you. Yes Arcsoft is a very good program, although there are some problems for a more serious photography. It's got no manual control whatsoever and doesn't support multi layer segment stitching. That said though it does an impressive job in fully manual and can handle some pretty hairy panos.
I like your image, and the stitching is pretty much perfect. The lighting/atmosphere is very good and I personally like it (certainly more than the other image you comapred it with), however it suffers from the eternal problem - artistic vs encyclopaedic. I honestly couldn't say how it'd go on FPC if that was what you had in mind. If for the article, I woudl lean towards using yours. --Fir0002 21:36, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/Image:Ciudad_de_las_ciencias_noche.JPG --> The image was not promoted despite the vote was in favour of it. +6/-3. ONLY BECUASE YOU OPPOSED and closed the nomination. I want an explanation. Thank you. Arad 23:36, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
I appreciate your help on my help desk question. My 12 hours of fumbling yesterday you solved with one quick note. Many thanks. After your note, I had the image uploaded and nominated in about 10 minutes. I hope the world likes it. I know it's a common subject, but the lighting and strong colors had everyone on the street stopping and staring when I shot it.
BTW, I like a lot of your images, and am a big follower of Clapton. I'm a major Mississippi Blues junkie and have works by Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Wilie Dixon and all the others that Clapton credits as his inspiration and whose songs he plays to this day.
Take care, John

It's true about the barn star. About Firefox, well then, what can I say, I'll try to fix it, but then Firefox has many other problems with many websites. I have a feeling your watching everything I do.Arad 20:51, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Aupa Yummifuitbat, I can speak basque no problem and Im prepared to give you as much help as possible. Do write me your lyrics and I will try to write it back in the way you would pronounce it, if I make myself clear. Worst case, will give you my phone number (Brighton) and you can call me and I will read it to you. Now, about the piano thingy, will ask my dad and see if he has it, alright? and good luck with it! ;) By the way, im Usogorri in the Basque encyclopedia, but you can otherwise leave a message in the txoko there! Maitia, nun zira? Darling (or dear one)where are you?
Nik etzutut ikusten I can not see you
Ez berririk jakiten Or know any news from you
Nurat galdu zira? Where are you lost?
Ala kanbiatu da zure diseina Or your desire has changed
Hitzeman zenereitan You swore to me
Ez behin, bai birritan Not once, but twice
enia zinela That you were mine
Ohikua nuzu Im the same as before
Ez nuzu kambiatu I have not changed
Bihotzian behin hartu Once I took you in my heart
Eta zu maitatu And loved you.
Aita jeloskor batek dizu kasatu A jelous father has married you (to someone else)
Zure ikustetik From seeing you
Gehiago mintzatzetik Or taking to you
Hark nizu pribatu He is preventing me.
Well, more or less that is the translation! Now, the song is basque but from the french border (im from the "spanish" side) hence all those ü letters, which are pronounced as per french! Usogorri
Because in english (not sure about welsh) there is no soft "r" sound, we have decided to change it for "d" sounds, but you can try to pronounce soft "r"s if you can. The italic letters is where the entonation of the word goes:
Myeetia noon sida
Neek estutoot eekoosten
es bereedic jakeeten
noorats galdu sida
Ala canbeatoo da soore disenya
Eetseman senedaitan
es bein bye bereetan
eneeya seenyela
Try with that, see how it goes and if you like the idea I will ask someone else to write the second paragraph! And by the way, my dad says you may be able to find all the music writting you need in Eresbil. Good luck! Usogorri
Oytooa nooso
Enoosoo kanbeatoo
beotzseean bein artoo
eta sou mytatoo
iyta jeloskorr batek disoo kasatoo
surai ikoostatick
gayagoo meentsaatzetick
ack neezoo preebatoo
Hope that is enough. Will be rather busy this week again, but if you need any help and want to find me easier, try <email address removed to prevent spam> and I will try to reply promplty, ok?? take care and best of lucks, brake a leg! Usogorri
No worries! Just glad I happened to be there to catch it. :-) Cheers, Dar-Ape 02:35, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, those two have been at it for some time now, and have more or less exhausted everyone's interest I think. Their talk pages happen still to be on my watchlist, and so it's starting to annoy me again. You must study/work just over the road from me! -Splash - tk 23:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Cherry blossom tree, thanks for your comment on Wanderingscribe's talk page; you mentioned a lot of things I should have included. I'm wondering whether this user warrants an RfC regarding his/her username, as it seems to be a single-purpose account created solely to push POV against the blogger of the same name. I'd appreciate your comments as I'm not sure where this stands with respect to WP:Username. Cheers, --YFB ¿ 23:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
for the full story on Schonken's menacing behavior, see
(link commented out, breaking my talk page for some reason) and note well...administrator's note that Schonken's report is "bogus." then see this article's History for his latest refusal to civilize up, by filing yet another amateurish reversion. Stevewk 16:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your recent edit to Gevalia. The writing is more compact and smoother now. I was puzzled by your edit summary, though: "rv POV". What point of view were you removing? It mostly looked like wordy writing that fell under your ax. Perhaps there was a subtle POV that I missed (and therefore would seek to avoid myself). Thanks, Mmccalpin 12:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Ah, yes. I lost the POV in all the more general copyedits. I should remember not to try thinking (and certainly not posting) before the second cup of coffee. Thanks again. Mmccalpin 02:35, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
I blocked him. It seems that all of his article vandalism has been fixed, but he uploaded a lot of images. I am visually impaired so I cannot see if they are at all useful, so do you think they should be deleted? Academic Challenger 23:41, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Do you have any TP? TP for my bunghole? I am a gringo! I want all your 'crappucino'! "The streets will flow with the blood of the nonbelievers! The bunghole does not vandalise, the bunghole is a guiding force that will lead ultimately to TP! Yes TP. TPTPTPTPTPTPTP. A man is not a man without TP for his bunghole! Do you have TP?

Hi Jreferee, I've translated Gustav von Schönberg from de:wiki per your request. I hope it's helpful - I'd be grateful if you'd look over the article and let me know if I've made any mistakes. Best wishes, --YFB ¿ 02:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
"Gericht", of course, means "law" (or "justice") and "Assessor", well, means the same thing in English. So the literal translation would be "law assessor" or "assessor of law(s)", in other words someone who would assess what civil(?) law(s) would apply to any given case as it comes to court. I don't know if "law clerk" would do, probably not. The problem here may be that there probably is no equivalent functionary in the courts of the English speaking world. The foregoing is an educated guess. -- Cherio, Peter Horn 16:49, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
If you dont have time to do any of those translations, which is understandable, perhaps you could transfer the whole "kit and Kaboodle" to the requesr for translations from the German bulitin board, or tell me how & where to do that in the Wiki system. "Word's" "Copy and Paste" will make that job a cinch.
P.S. Did you see yet what I did to your Carl Roman Abt translation? I noticed that you did not translate the particulars about the auctioneering firm that sold off the coin and art collection, may be I'll do it some time ot another
