Hello, This section has problems with original research, tone and words to avoid. I suggest you read these articles. One Ex : "This makes Balagangadhara’s claims about his “theory” being empirically verifiable a false claim." should probably reworded as " so and so argues that Balagangadhara's claims.... ". So is "While these definitions are poor, Balagangadhara believes that they are theories"--this requires attribution. Did anybody say this? Then mention so, or else this is plain original research. Vithoba

I noticed you reverted some anon's comment/edit, the edit is not exactly vandalism. Actually I quite agree with his/her point. There is inconsistency in rating of WikiProject Hinduism about regional deities. What do you think? --Redtigerxyz ^Talk 11:19, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Actually one have already given me that article at the time of Vithoba, there is anything else available? That article does not have much about Kanhopatra. Also, if you have time, the journal article has a layout of the temple with deities (p 191) and maps of Pandharpur and Maharashtra on p 187, can you create them in SVG. Since it is copyrighted, we can-not the image as it is. The image should be based on the copyrighted image. I also suggest we colour it for originality. Sources about Somnath Bhattacharyya

Hi, about the press source you pointed out: there are similar descriptions of SB (almost with the same words) in other sources cited in the KC article. However, IMHO these sources are not enough to support a Wikipedia article. For one thing, there is a good chance that the reporter of the source you cited did not interview SB but instead got his opinions from some other book or article. Methinks that we need at least one source that can be trusted, such as a university's official website, an academic society's membership list, a biography in an academic journal, etc.. In other words, a source where any incorrect statements about SB are likely to bring trouble for the source or for SB. ALl the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 13:13, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Positive reinforcement for Avadhuta Gita is lovely but where is my bloody barnstar! I am only in this gig for the accolade, public acclaim and limitless wealth. I am not finished yet, this is just a beginning. Collaboration is more than welcome by an inclusionist. If you have some leverage with any of the Dharmic Traditions task forces, is it possible to give the article on Brahma a bit of lovin'? At minimum just flagging it's refinement for a giddy-up as it is in such a sorry state.

Thank you very much for the Bhagavad Gita quotation. Do you chant it in Sanskrit? The meter is so lovely. The English translation to which you reference is rather neat but I hold that meditating on the Sanskrit is imperative. That said, with devotion the knowledge beyond the words dawns in the heartmind regardless of translation and language of rendering. Sacred Texts is a wonderful resource. You deleted the "Nomenclature, orthography and etymology" section within Avadhuta Gita which shows a very limited understanding of the purpose of an Encyclopedia. Etymology is a traditional way to enter a text in the Tradition. Entering a different orthographical representation was only the first population of this section. Importantly, if you understand and meditate on the title through Samyama there is no requirement to read the text.

Hello, Mandarin. Just to say, I admire your patience in dealing with a certain editor on the Ramakrishna etc. pages. If you look at his talk page, you find he's argumentative at many places, often insulting etc, and has even been blocked several times. I guess there's nothing to do but forbear, or else put warning after warning and finally have him blocked... On his user page, he insults Ramakrishna devotees at the very top of the page! Oh, my patience is tried. The irony is, he calls others narrow minded fanatics, and fails to see his own narrow-minded fanaticism. I suppose that's the problem for all of us: we easily see other's faults, not our own. Probably he will read this; if so,G, realize that your actions not only poison the usually civil atmosphere at Wikipedia, but also poison your own heart with the venom of anger and hatred. First thing, I am not a "devotee", nor do I think are the other editors, User:Ludwigs2, User:Redtigerxyz who have been abused, but I am very well aware of the studies related to Ramakrishna, Bengal, post-colonialism., As far as the behavior and incivility goes, there comes a point after which you can no-longer bear and I am not a soft editor. If situation demands I am not even hesitant to approach WP:ARBCOM, I am very well aware of cases where there were contentious, misrepresentation of sources and ARBCOM's ruling. Second thing, "Pest" borders personal attack and you as a editor who has been abused from the editor, I understand your mental attitude but would recommend you to remain calm, take it easy. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have pretty much stopped editing, partly due to time constraints, and partly because I simply don't enjoy the nasty spirit that entered the Ramakrishna discussion. Every now and then I venture into the fray again, only to regret it.

I don't quite understand what you mean about my comment not being part of WP policy. Was it inappropriate? I am not too familiar with policy; I was trying in my own way to reduce the level of argumentation by suggesting that time will tell. You are right, "pest" is a kind of personal attack. Thanks for the change, appreciate it very much. While the discussions can be full of "nasty spirit" / personal attacks, its important not to loose the focus, and sometimes even to see the humorous side. I didn't mean it was inappropriate, it was simply a unnecessary distraction, esp where is no such WP guideline. Yes, theMandarin I, too, appreciate your firm yet patient approach on the Ramakrishna page. I might comment that the blanket accusation that editors of a certain persuasion there were all working for the Ramakrishna mission was perhaps the most outrageous and amusing claim I have ever seen on a WP discussion page. I do think this particular ongoing dispute there shows a basic weakness in the ability of WP to disseminate truth: truth is not democratic, it is not by consensus, and it cannot be voted into existence. But Wikipedia thinks truth is by consensus. That said, WP is still quite a phenom and a really interesting project. Jack B108 (talk) 15:08, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Buddhism and Hinduism article

Would you also be able to take a look at Buddhism and Hinduism article? It contains lot of WP:UNDUE violations that distort Hindu textual sources and their history.

An example of this is , "The Bhagavad Gita is a post-Buddhist text, and some scholars believe it was composed as part of the Hindu reaction to Buddhism." This is a statement of few scholars , mostly Marxist and those with evangelical leanings like Zaehner. There are also other sources which say that Bhagvad Gita is pre-Buddhist and organic part of the epic Mahabharata. But the editors keep deleting the sources which state the opposite. The current set of editors seem to be biased against Hindu sources and may have used [WP:GAME]] to project a particular view of them, or to discredit them.
