Archiving
Hey again, Xyrael. Do you use the cut and paste procedure to archive your talk page? Beacuse if you do, I need you to answer this question:
Under the the sub-heading Cut and paste procedure in WP:ARCHIVE, on number 2, It says:
In the edit box, highlight all the text you want to archive, right-click (Windows) or control-click (Mac), and then select cut. The text will then be copied to your clipboard. What is the clipboard? Is that like Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word?
I'm going to need to archive soon. Thanks in Advance -- Lego@lostEVIL, EVIL! | 21:26, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
move request
Hi Xyrael, some users are trying to move a Turkish-biograpy article to a different name. After first move i've write a message and revert back but then another user moved it back and also make this change to make impossible for a user to revert it back:) can you move back Ferhat Cokmus to Ferhat Çökmüş Cheers --Ugur Basak 08:37, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Locking of the Salafi Page
Hi, I noticed you previously locked the Salafi page early in the day then unlocked. I have really tried to be patient with the edits then reverts. In addition to senseless vandalism, people are trying to strong arm the article by just forcing POV edits that although I may agree with them, I know for the sake of wikipedia's survival it can't be where one person or group gains hegemony over certain articles. If that continued, anyone could gain control of an article and the pursuit of a factual article will be lost. I think it should be relocked. My patience has worn thin at this point. Maybe you could take a look at the Salafi Talk page. It is possible I am being unfair, and I am definitely not beyond reproach. ZaydHammoudeh 21:21, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry but I am not sure of the protocol when responding to a message on my talkpage whether I should do it on there talkpage or my own. If this is the wrong place, my mistake. I am not familiar with any admins but someone did come. If you recommended his help, then I appreciate it. Thanks. ZaydHammoudeh 16:51, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Link spam to articles by User Mahdi7
Sorry to bother you but to be honest, you are the only admin I know on wikipedia. I hope this ok. I have noticed that the user Mahdi7 keeps posting links to his user page on many of the articles he edits. I have reverted some of his edits but he continues to do it. I am not sure what to do here because his user page is related to the articles; on the contrary, it has POV shia/sunni relations information. I am concerned if I continue to revert his edits that I will be hit with the 3RR. What should I do? Articles he has editted include: Darood-e-pak and Peace_be_upon_him_(Islam). Thanks for the help and sorry to be a pain. ZaydHammoudeh 23:40, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, xyr!
Thank you so much for supporting my RfA! It ended up passing and I'm rather humbled by the support (and a bit surprised that it was snowballed a day early!). Please let me know if I can help you out and I welcome any comments, questions, or advice you wish to share.

Vandalprrof problems
Hello, i'm having problems logging into vandalproof, I have been approved however when i open vandal proof it comes up with:
"You might have entered an incorrect username. Currently, your username is set to jimothytrotter. You can change this at anytime from "Set Username" under the File menu.
You might not be correctly logged into Wikipedia with that username. Try logging into Wikipedia within the current browser.
You might not be on the list of authorized users. Please post a request for permission to use VandalProof on the VandalProof talk page. If you have received a message stating that you have already been added to the list, please contact the user who posted that message."
when i then log in inside of vandalproof it says you have successfuly logged in and refreshes the page... I get the same error message and the link up the top says log in, not log out! why is it doing this to me!?--JiMoThYTALK 15:49, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Blocks
Hey there xyrael, I need you to block User: JG55 for me. She is abusing me and User:Super-Magician. Have a look at this, and this. She has been warned repeatedly. Thanks, much appreciated. -- Lego@lostEVIL, EVIL! | 04:05, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, so much Xyrael, enough time to get my head together. I was only hoping for a block of 3 hours to 24 at the most! What will happen if that user does it again. Thanks again.:) -- Lego@lostEVIL, EVIL! | 18:58, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.
Toolserveraccount
Hello Xyrael,
please send your prefered login-name, your realname and the public part of your SSH-Key to . We will create your account soon. --DaB.
Many thanks for your offer of help and for taking the time to read the discussion page. Although I have been contributing since March 2004, I have no experience of this procedure and will have be guided by you.
As you may have gathered, I am trying to convey the views of Eastern cultures and Sikhism in relation to this right but I have been reverted twice by User:slimvirgin. I believe that I have dealt with her objections in detail and with courtesy but she is now suggesting that this article is "closed" as it only deals with " …modern concept of animal rights, which is well-defined by the scholars who write about it. That is the definition we are working within: animal rights as defined by Peter Singer, Tom Regan, Gary Francione, and all the animal rights legal scholars, the animal rights law courses, and the animal rights groups."
I can't see how an article with a name like "animal rights" can just be restricted to what Peter Singer, Tom Regan, Gary Francione have said and nothing else. Surely if other people have said something about this right that has to be considered. Animal rights have been discussed as far back as 400BC. Isn't NPOV all about this – giving a balanced global and overall view of things rather than restricting it??
I definitely need help here!!! I hope you see what my hurdle is. Please let me know how you feel we can deal with this problem. I do not want to get involved in a edit-war or undue confrontation, etc. I am sure there must be a more sensible way to resolve this issue. May be if you could find out from user:slimvirgin why these "foreign views" (to her) cannot be included here. I am sure she is trying to make some point - but at the moment I cannot properly understand it and may be a fresh mind can see the differing views and may be then we can move on.
Sorry for the long post. I am a bit busy at the moment, so the reply may take a day or so. Please deal with this at a relaxed pace as I am not losing any sleep over it but it is an important point that needs to be made. Many thanks again and have a great time. --Hari Singh 23:29, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi, OK, I did not realise that this may be a male person, thanks for clearing that one. Well the logic is that when one looks at the title of any article and then reads the article, one would expect to see all the differing views connected to the title or links from that page to other pages. That's the normal setup of pages. What I see here is only the modern western understanding of AR (Animal Rights) and a prohibition by the authors of any other view linked to the title subject. Surely, that cannot be right.
AR is a general term just like, for example Rights – If you look at this page it deals with all types of rights and it points to specialist rights as an extension. AR need to be similar and have a broader coverage rather than the restricted view that is presented at the moment.
The published sources which I have shown Slim have been rejected without consideration as they do not address his view of the "modern view of AR". As these sources have nothing to do with the "modern view", he has rejected them. I think he accepts that they are valid sources connected with the rights of animals but not the "modern aspect". I do not accept his view as it restricts many other valid POV that need to appear here. That is the problem!! --23:43, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Unblocking
What template do you use for accepting unblock requests? I saw one, and it was rather nice. Thanks, #1001! —#1000 / 20:48, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Werdnabot
Hi. I was wondering why you were mass un-doing the automatic archiving of Werdnabot? - Debuskjt 17:52, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Please do not revert Werdnabot. You will be blocked if you continue -- Tawker 01:43, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
This was at my request. The new version of Werdnabot has had a bug, making 93 problematic edits. I mistakenly asked him to use the rollback tool, forgetting that it would rollback more than one edit. Apologies for the mixup, —Werdnatalkcriticism 05:52, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
In the future, the person doing some unusual reverting should post a notice at the bottom of their talk page to explain what they are doing. This is the first place people will look. NoSeptember 06:03, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Oops, I think what happened is my edit was one of the last good ones and of course when the new messages thing came up I went whoa and assumed you had a bug of some sorts, feel free to ignore my previous warning:) -- Tawker 19:52, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century
Didn't really understand your closing comment "keep ready for redirect", I've simple copy/paste merged the article with History of Anti-Semitism and redirected, but feel free to rv it if you meant otherwise. I can't really judge being that it was so close. Thanks Musaabdulrashid 22:26, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
I think that everything is good then. I redirected the page, and put added all relevant information from the article to the page I redirected it to, History of Anti-SemitismMusaabdulrashid 22:18, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Ah I guess this is moot now, at least as far as I (the initiator) am concerned, as the Proposed tag has been restored... Herostratus 02:15, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I have noticed when you closed the above AfD, you did not remove the category template, "REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE
WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD". By deleting this when closing it pulls the discussion out of the category. I have
deleted it from this discussion, but if you could review any other closures you have done recently and
remove the tag from them it would be greatly appreicated. This is a fairly recent change. The official
policy is at WP:AFDC. I have been going through the listing in each of the categories CAT:AFD and
removing the tag from pages that are closed and adding the approriate category code for those in the
uncatagorised group. Thanks.--Gay Cdn(talk)(email)(Contr.) 20:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof and VP 1.3
This may sound odd but could you please approve me for VP and VP 1.3 (if you are able?) AmiDaniel added me as a mod, but not as a user and as such I have been helpless to assist in reducing the user requests! Thanks so much! - Glen 20:56, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
She's doing it again!
User:JG55 is still annoying me. I just cooly rresponded one of her comments and she is doing it again. Could you block her. Cheers -- Lego@lostEVIL, EVIL! | 21:13, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I've talked to Icelandic Hurricane about it, shes one of JG55 x?-freinds. They had a fight recently. Now Icelandic Hurricane says JG55 likes getting blocked.
I think theres 2 options, leave here alone or block her indefinitly. If we leave her alone, she will keep annoying me. If we block her indefinitly, she'll stop annoying me. I'm just trying to talk some sense into her. Your opinion? -- Lego@lostEVIL, EVIL! | 23:01, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I just got authorized for VP (per your note to me) — but when I try to use it, I keep getting the page with the yellow error box saying "Your log-in request failed". Even after logging in to my Wikipedia account, both in Firefox and IE, and also via the "logging into Wikipedia" link in the yellow box in VP, I still can't get past this error. Any suggestions? The Test Wiki
Hello, I found The Test Wiki on Anonymous anonymous's userpage. I think that it is a great idea that you can have a whole wiki that anyone can be a sysop. I am interested in css and javascript within wikis and the design of pages. I am therefore requesting sysop access rights to try out some experiments. My username on The Test Wiki is the same as on this wiki (Leon2323). Sorry for all the trouble.
+sysop:) And thanks for the congratulations! —Xyrael / 20:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for making me a sysop. Wow! So many features that I've never even seen before. Actually, I don't really know why Wikipedia has Wikipedia:Administrators' how-to guide as a lot of the stuff is quite straight forward. The only thing that I'm not really sure about is that I can't seem to use rollback. I know how to do it but there is no option and when using the address bar, it comes up with:
Rollback failed
There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Please hit "back" and reload the page you came from, then try again.
The instructions in the message don't work.
Anyway, the wiki is great and I will try and test out some css and js and add some content and fix links (I like fixing links which is weird) when I have some time. --lEoN2323 20:13, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Glad you like it. If you are having issues, I suggest you speak to Where - he installed the software on that server and I just provide the hosting. Sorry I can't help you further, but I really don't know the software particularly well. Thanks! —Xyrael / 07:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
My approval for VandalProof
Hey there Xyrael. I guess it is OK to add my name to the list of approved users for Vandalproof per the notification I received. I have not added the userbox to my userpage as I have yet to be successful to install the software. I am thinking of getting a new computer as this one is dated. Plus my version of Winzip is very old. If it’s OK with you, I might ask you some questions about VP once I can get it installed (hopefully on a new computer) Please don't tell my wife yet!… Cheers! JungleCattalk/contrib 00:49, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
When I extracted the files using Winzip and ran the file Setup.exe, only the top half of the files shown here showed up. Plus, it didn’t put the files in the System32 directory. Had to re-do it and put them in the right folder. I think it may have something to do with the old copy of Winzip on my machine running Windows 98. It is old (Windows 95 compatible Winzip). I may do some troubleshooting when I get home. I am thinking of “biting the bullet” and buying a new computer. But I will let you know if I get this figured out. I am not a computer wiz, so this will be a challenge. Thanks. JungleCattalk/contrib 17:20, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
No edits yet. The software does open, and I got the message to upgrade. So I closed it out. The concern I have is that I am missing the lower half of the files per the VP page. From what the page said, you could download the program directly if you had those. There is where "I hit the "brick wall". I will have to look on the machine at home and give you the files I am missing. JungleCattalk/contrib 17:34, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
I may have mis-understood you. Did you mean edit the approved user list? Our wires may be crossed. Could you show me a VP page? JungleCattalk/contrib 17:40, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Richwales still not showing up in VandalProof approved list
You wrote: "Ho, sorry for taking so long to respond. I'm not quite sure what is going on with my recent run of VP approvals, but I'm going over it all again now. Please let me know if it still doesn't work; thanks."
My user name is still not listed in the "Approved" section at User talk:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. I haven't had a chance to try VP again today (it's installed on my computer at home), but I assume it's still going to fail as long as my user name doesn't appear in the "Approved" list, right?
