Hello... regarding the Maradona & Pele articles... I am trying to reinstate my comments about the 2000 internet poll in a more balanced and sourced way. I hope that we can agree on a way to do this. You will note that I have stopped trying to get this into the Maradona article, but rather just the Pele article. I do feel that the controversy surrounding the 2000 poll is important and should be refered to. Perhaps it needs its own article as it was a big deal at the time. I am working on research for this and hopeto start an article soon with sources, quotes etc.
I really hope that everyone can find a way to put this all across in a neutral and interesting way.
Thank you.

I sugest you read Carlos Martínez Sarasola's Nuestros Paisanos Los Indios and a number of other books that strongly support the use of the word genocide regarding the Conquest of the Dessert.

Thanks for the welcome Mariano. I'll work on contributions, and also translations from Spanish to English as time permits. I do agree with your ideas of expanding the English pages knowledge of Argentina. Alex
Can I ask you to look in on my question at Talk:Spanish_profanity#Follar. I'm guessing it's vandalism (as some other recent edits may be), but I'm hesitant to assume bad faith on a matter where I could simply be wrong. - Jmabel | Talk 19:50, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I know you're proud of being Argentine, but remember, "If the latest research findings arrived in your post-box today, great! But as you add them to an article make sure they are supported by background content. You might also want to consider waiting until other researchers have confirmed it, or it is integrated in review articles or medical books."--Steven Fruitsmaak | Talk 13:15, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Why delete the alt name instead of my edit to "citation needed"? Maybe the poster has a point... Do you know for a fact it ain't so? Maybe in some country they play the game and call it that way (I'd bet it would be "pato" or "horseball" but I'm not 100% current).
Isn't there a policy (or a courtesy measure) to keep the "fact" tag for some days until resolution? elpincha 10:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Historical facts don't have copyrights, they are the same everywhere. So, anyone can claim copyrights on every biography. Is was just a list of facts, common to everybody and not a professional research. How dare you say I did something wrong? The guy who wrote that is probably violating someone's copyrigth. I have been helping this page where you can find stupid things about celebrities but you can't find anything about our History. This is just the industry of cool. I used a translation machine only as a "help" because I don't have the time to do it myself alone, you can spare me the humiliation and scorn. But no problem, I quit. You can keep on writting stuff about Maradona and Ricardo Darín. --furgonero 22:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Well done for the Chango article! I've been looking forward to seeing one. One of my friends is a great photographer and took some photos of Chango when we went to see him (the second time). They are good and I've asked him if he has one he'll give on a fee license to include in the article. He managed to present a print to Chango the next time he came to England. Failing that I may have a not-so-good photo I took somewhere.

Barcex 10:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

I totally agree. I did not keep the live score. When I went to edit it to put in the final score, someone had already put in some sort of interim score and crowned USA the winner. I found that irritating, but it had already been done. And then it was just a matter of missing the last basket Germany scored when I changed it from 63 to 65 points.
I started translation on some missing pages from es to en. Latest: Carlos Pellegrini (city). I read the image help pages and could not find a clear answer on how to cross-reference images accross language wikis. In this case, for example, from es:Carlos Pellegrini (Santa Fe) to the English counterpart. besides the obvious copying to en: or commons (in which case there would be image duplication). Is there a help page you could point me to? Thanks. User:Alexf 12:26, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Hola, Mariano.

I can see that you introduced
to the article Michael Schumacher, possibly as a compromise to a stubborn user. While not being certain of the necessity of your action, I found a similar mention missing from the opening para in the articles of Fangio, Senna or even Clark who probably qualify better on the common human perception of 'greatness'. If citing an article written by somebody to prove someone's greatness would be apt, I guess half the competitors in any sport would be "considered by many to be the greatest..". To put the same to Pele/Maradona would be a decent compromise where the world is divided on which is better but agree both being greats.. But otherwise to heed to one or two users would be suicidal and frankly I dont know what the hell all the IP editors are doing. One feel these kind of debatable attributes should be not be included in the article text, but based on categories assigned and not editable --Su30 14:51, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
but it is also true that a lot of people consider Schumacher as the al time greatest, specially thouse not deeply into car-racing

I've blocked the user in question. For future reference In general, 3RR often has a backlog since the reversions can be complicated and determing who has violated 3RR (possibly multiple parties) can be difficult. A 2 hour backlog is not that unusual. The best way of getting the backlog quickly dealt with is putting a note on WP:ANI or putting a note on the talk page of an admin who is currently editing. JoshuaZ 15:14, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Also in regard to the current dispute please remember to be careful about weasel words. It might make more sense in the context to say "according to X, Y is the greatest Z" or "according to X, Y is one of the greatest Z". In general, even if such comments when cited are WP:NPOV and based on reliable sources they aren't often useful. It can be far more productive to simply list their accomplishments which will often make that sort of judgement clear (this is similar to why the article on Hitler doesn't say "most sane people consider Hitler to be evil" -even if one could source the statement it wouldn't accomplish much). Hola Mariano.
Hi Lucky. I has just create a page about Mario Luis Santoro, a victim and hero of the 9/11 attack. You deleted it immediately without any discussion. But W:en: has a whole category Category:Victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks with several biographies of 9/11 attacks, that are equal to the one you deleted. ¿Can you explain me, please this apparently contradiction? Hi Mariano, I don't think there already is an infobox for hockey players, but we could create one as they are always useful to get some quick information on a person. There are infoboxes for several sports around already, for instance: Serginho Greene (football), Marloes Wesselink (beach volleyball), Marianne Vos (cycling), Raymond van Barneveld (Darts), etc. In my opinion every sports person should have their own suitable infobox. Hi Marijan (in Croatian). Thanks for leaving his link to Croatia in the article. It's sort of old news anyway but still and interesting fact which people might like to know. It's Trivia.
Argentina has many Croatian migrants as it also has many more Polish, Italian etc...You're always going to have Argentine famous people that have some link to a European heritage. No matter how small it's always interesting to note it. Johnny Depp mentions his minimal Cherokee heritage with pride.
I have changed Dalmatian to Dalmatia.
Re His link to Marco Polo, this was documented. No doubt Marco Polo lived on Korcula for a time, the debate is weather he was Croat or Italian and born there or Venice. Polo and de Polo last name can still be found on Korcula today, those people are Croatian heritage who adopted the Italian last name under Venice rule..when looking at the family tree all trace it back to Sibenik Croatia and not Italy. Now the link with Diego Maradona and Marco Polo is interesting as his maternal side was from Korcula are proven to be related to Marco Pol..so that would mean Maradonahas has some minimal link to the great man of the sea.
"The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree" Both were and are still great men and noted as such forever. Jagoda 1 02:50, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I have spoken to a girl in Argentina and she said some 500,000 people have a Croat origin and live in Argentina today. Even more for Polish origin. The statistics only show about 250,000 Croat origin in Argentina. She said only 1-2nd generation are counted , after a time they to become Hespanic Argentine. She also said names get changed eg Seric became Serrichio and Italian sounding.
How true is this? Do the Poles have the same problem?
I have heard of a fair few Argen- Croat players like Daniel Ruben Bilos etc... and more obvious names such as Diego Markic and Buljubasich etc... Jagoda 1 02:58, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Maradona and his link to Korcula Dalmatia has been know for a while. Croats are soccer mad and would love to know that Maradona has a small Croatian connection. When you list this under trivia more and more people become aware and see how he's connected. I think it's importanat as most people don't know about the connection. It's true so why not mention it. Eg.. Johnny Depp mentions his very minimal Cherokee heritage on his mums side.
I will see about his connection to Marco Polo...its a strong chance...same island and it has been noted before in the press both in Argentina and Croatia...

Thanks for your contribution to Coca tea: it was marked to be copyedited, but how is one supposed to edit http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Coca_Tea&oldid=83463778 and remain coherent or factual? Although http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mate_de_coca&oldid=81738323 and http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mate_de_coca were somewhat helpful, I was still befuddled. I tried to get some sources, but mostly got people/organizations who/that were just trying to sell the tea and others who/that did not mention how the cocaine in the coca tea affects it, if at all. Sorry if I took the convention too far away. I personally think the "CITY, Argentina" convention is mostly applied to cities that have homonyms (as cities or similar entities) in other countries, such as Córdoba, Paraná, Santa Fe, etc. Viedma should actually point to the city directly, now that you mention it. Yes, most of Tobias' disambiguations are not necessary in my view, but I was too busy and I wanted to avoid an argument over a relatively minor point. However, if at least a few members of WP:AR agree on this, we could reach a consensus and do the re-renaming. —Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 17:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey there, I would love to help start the Argentine comic section and am currently working on some tranlation of the Spanish version. However, I think the article should really be Argentine comics, or Argentine comic book, as the plural word comics, in English, most generally refers to the medium of comic books, whereas comic, singular, usually means a comedian. See Comic book, comics, American comic book and French_comics. I guess it really doesn't matter yet, since there's no article either place.
In any event, hopefully, I'll put up a stub soon. What's your favorite historieta argentina? Me gusta Mort Cinder, El Eternaut y Macanudo.
