quadrant as contributors to Aboriginal history
It would be un fortunate for wikipedia to lose credibility on Aboriginal issues by allowing Quadrant to write about subjects they are openly bias about, Quadrant have been engaged in whats called "the history wars" for a long time, the methods used by Quadrant writers is very narrow focused on records alone and ignoring/devaluing any evidence as required to achieve the outcome they want to advocate, Im not in a position to challenge professional writers and thinks publishing the truth goes beyond who's the better writer or who can argue better, this is the second time I have sent an email concerned about the information a genuine person may get from reading bias materials, or the impact on A young confused Aboriginal trying to get information, I am going to continue to follow up the issue of Quadrant dominating the Aboriginal issues within Wikipedia while activly advocating a bias view of Aboriginal Australian history, A copy of all emails will be sent to the head office in America highlighting the effect this has on Wikipedias reputation as a non-bias source of information within Australia, although most of whats published on Wikipedia on Aboriginal Australians issues is mostly accurate I would encourage Wikipedia (national and international) to distance their web site from any political players with vested intrests, I will continue to contact wikipedia directly as it would be impossible to challenge professional writers that get payed to write about history and have access to records the public cant see, I love Wikipedia and cringe when Quadrant are dominating public opinion about Aboriginals, I look forward to a reply and hope I can continue to direct people to your site when researching parts on Australian/Aboriginal histories.

Politics in the Wikipedia
Hi,
I've been going round and round the wiki looking for the exact process to use to report what might be a speedy deletion, but I haven't found the editing information that I might use, so I ask you.
sounds dandy, except it is not about political history or Cancer. It is a political article supporting an upcoming California ballot measure involving a tax increase of which the majority of voters will not be paying one penny for.
I believe, though the authors are being careful not to do so, that it is a Soapbox article without presenting any side to the issues presented but that of the authors who may very well be using Wikipedia's clout to freely promote their measure against the Rights of the Citizens in the Minority who will be affected and who stand no chance of defending themselves in the voting booth but for the mercy of the unaffected majority (often not likely), while the promoters may (they usually do) have a conflict of interest due to potential financial enrichment in their favor (as we say in California).
I will remind you that the Wikipedia guidelines do not support political causes, or taking sides.

Metrics are out from week one. Week one showed that the need for Teahouse hosts to invite new editors to the Teahouse is urgent for this pilot period. It also showed that emailing new users invitations is a powerful tool, with new editors responding more to emails than to talk page templates. We also learned that the customized database reports created for the Teahouse have the highest return rate of participation by invitees. A refreshed "Your hosts" page encourages experienced Wikipedians to learn about the Teahouse and participate. Request to userfy a (very) old AfD
Greetings! Zenfolio was deleted at an AfD in 2006. I think that since then it has risen in notability to meet the GNG (ie , ). Can you please userfy the most recently deleted version and any previous non G11/non G12 versions to User:VQuakr/Zenfolio for development prior to community review? In addition, thoughts on whether this really needs to go to deletion review (given the AfD is 6 years old and the closure decision from that time is not in dispute) before being moved in to main space would be most welcome. question about CU
You recently checked an SPI I submitted. I understand IP and whatnot pretty well, and understand how you can confirm the socks I nominated. I dont understand how you found the additional socks that I did not suspect. When you use CU do you get a list of all users in the same ip range or something to compare with? Teahouse celebrates one month of being open! This first month has drawn a lot of community interest to the Teahouse. Hosts & community members have been working with the project team to improve the project in many ways including creating scripts to make inviting easier, exploring mediation processes for troubling guests, and best practices regarding mentoring for new editors who visit the Teahouse.
Springtime means fresh tea leaves...
First month metrics report an average of 30 new editors visiting the Teahouse each week. Approximately 30 new editors participate in the Teahouse each week, by way of asking questions and making guest profiles. An average of six new questions and four new profiles are made each day. We'd love to hear your ideas about how we can spread the word about the Teahouse to more new editors.
Teahouse has many regulars. Like any great teahouse, our Teahouse has a 61% return rate of guests, who come back to ask additional questions and to also help answer others' questions. Return guests cite the speedy response rate of hosts and the friendly, easy to understand responses by the hosts and other participants as the main reasons for coming back for another cup o' tea!
Early metrics on retention. It's still too early to draw conclusions about the Teahouse's impact on new editor retention, but, early data shows that 38% of new editors who participate at the Teahouse are still actively editing Wikipedia 2-4 weeks later, this is compared with 7% from a control group of uninvited new editors who showed similar first day editing activity. Additional metrics can be found on the Teahouse metrics page.

Modifying of article: Hystory of rail transport in Poland
I was reading the above informative article for curiosity when wanted to try to tidy up the English as the contents was good but obviously written by someone not too familiar English in especially railway terms. As an Italian speaker, who has lived and worked in UK as student and then an engineer for 30 years, I realized that he was "Anglicizing" his mother tongue. Eg: he did not seem to know about superheated steam as the English for steam at temperatures about boiling point. Correctly in the article Mr. Schmitt is mentioned regarding superheated steam.
I edited this section as saved it checking for the end result.
Then I moved to the next paragraph about 5 driving axles Prussian freight locomotives to correct it (for example I replaced "class" for "series" etc. however when I saved this paraph the last sentence about "war locomotive" wasn't being saved neither in the previous version nor in mine. WHY! I appreciate that a reference digit was there complicating matters.
COMING TO THE POINT: why did it happen. I am new to edit and I do it rarely.

Hi! Welcome to the fourth issue of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter for the Teahouse!
Teahouse pilot wraps up after 13 weeks After being piloted on English Wikipedia starting in February, the Teahouse wrapped up its pilot period on May 27, 2012. We expect this is just the beginning for the Teahouse and hope the project will continue to grow in the months to come!

What you've all been waiting for: Teahouse Pilot Report is released! We look forward to your feedback on the methodology and outcomes of this pilot project.
....and if a pilot report wasn't enough, the Teahouse Pilot Metrics Report is out too! Dive into the numbers and survey results to learn about the impact the Teahouse has made on English Wikipedia.
Teahouse shows positive impact on new editor retention and engagement
409 new editors participated during the entire pilot period, with about 40 new editors participating in the Teahouse per week.
Two weeks after participating, 33% of Teahouse guests are still active on Wikipedia, as opposed to 11% of a similar control group.
New editors who participated in the Teahouse edit 10x the number of articles, make 7x more global edits, and 2x as much of their content survives on Wikipedia compared to the control group.
Women participate in the Teahouse 28% of Teahouse participants were women, up from 9% of editors on Wikipedia in general, good news for this project which aimed to have impact on the gender gap too - but still lots to be done here!
New opportunities await for the Teahouse in phase two as the Teahouse team and Wikipedia community examine ways to improve, scale, and sustain the project. Opportunities for future work include:
Automating or semi-automating systems such as invites, metrics and archiving
Experimenting with more ways for new editors to discover the Teahouse
Building out the social and peer-to-peer aspects further, including exploring ways to make answering questions easier, creating more ways for new editors to help each other and for all participants to acknowledge each other's efforts
Growing volunteer capacity, continuing to transfer Teahouse administration tasks to volunteers whenever possible, and looking for new ways to make maintenance and participation easier for everyone.

Unusual Correction/Modification
I have been reading the wiki about the The Law Society of Upper Canada.
This is the Lawyer's Union in Ontario Canada.
I would like to correct some of the statements made, but am unsure what personal documentation needs to be included as proof of my statements.
Basically, my input would be an assessment of this Law Society, with my own personal experiences over the last 15 years as proof. This would ensure that others have the full information that they need before hiring an Ontario Lawyer.
Much of the info that I would add to their wikipedia info is already posted on the website www.LegalMafia.Blog.com.
Can I simply copy & paste my info into their wikipedia page?
Should I also add a pdf copy of correspondence from the Law Society to prove my statements?

I just noticed that on 28 Sep 2006, you deleted Lazy K. The AfD "discussion" is archived at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lazy K, but seems to include no discussion or voting, just you deciding to delete it. I started to think "who does this guy think he is!?" then realised the page had been vandalised. You can check the actual discussion in history of course. (Maybe these pages should be permanently locked?)
However, that discussion is itself rather dubious. The article was originally "culled" in a mass deletion of all articles in its category. This was identified as an abuse of process and the deletion was reverted, but then a semi-mass culling was conducted by putting each up on AfD at fairly frequent intervals for short periods (3 days from nomination to deletion in this case.)
In the case of this article, the vote was 1 "keep", 1 "weak delete" (what ever that is) and two "deletes." However, one of the two deletion voters proposes to delete because he cannot understand it, and therefore it must be a joke (he's wrong, it's a real language that happens to demonstrate some obscure and difficult principles of computer science.) Worse, the other deletion voter is an anonym who has never made any other edit, and voted for deletion with a comment that itself seems to be a joke.
Bearing in mind that:
the article previously sufferred a VfD process here: Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Lazy K which was much more thorough, and came up with a strong "keep" vote;
Lazy K is not some kid's silly vanity project, the author is a highly respected academic with an Erdős number of 2, and several other WP articles are either about, or refer to his work: Special:Search/John_Tromp; and
the code looks like line-noise not because it's being deliberately silly (like, say, Befunge) but because that's what SKI combinator calculus actually looks like
I would like to suggest this may have been a mistake.

This discussion was done six years ago, which is a very long time. The quality of the article at that time could have been very poor and had no references. Personally, if you are able to recreate the article addressing the concerns in the AfD/VfD with reliable third-party sources that clearly establishes notability and is well-written, I would not object to its recreation. - Mailer Diablo 01:05, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi! Welcome to the fifth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!
Guest activity increased in July. Questions are up from an average of 36 per week in June to 43 per week in July, and guest profile creation has also increased. This is likely a result of the automatic invite experiments we started near the end of month, which seeks to lessen the burden on hosts and other volunteers who manually invite editors. During the last week of July, questions doubled in the Teahouse! (But don't let that deter you from inviting editors to the Teahouse, please, there are still lots of new editors who haven't found Teahouse yet.)
More Teahouse hosts than ever. We had 12 new hosts sign up to participate at the Teahouse! We now have 35 hosts volunteering at the Teahouse. Feel free to stop by and see them all here.
Phase two update: Host sprint. In August, the Teahouse team plans to improve the host experience by developing a simpler new-host creation process, a better way of surfacing active hosts, and a host lounge renovation. Take a look at the plan and weigh in here.
New Teahouse guest barnstar is awarded to first recipient: Charlie Inks. Using the Teahouse barnstar designed by Heatherawalls, hosts hajatvrc and Ryan Vesey created the new Teahouse Guest Barnstar. My RfA
Thanks for partaking in my RfA. I'm glad I took my chances and gave it a go. Also, I still remember the advice you gave me several months back when I felt dispirited with my presence on this project. I've been suffering from clinical depression for a number of years (not gonna hide it), and the period from the latter half of 2011 through to the beginning of 2012 was an especially rough time for me emotionally and mentally. I've started on the road to recovery, and come to the realization that Wikipedia (and indeed, the world) is nowhere near as bad as I thought it was.

I was going to create the page but than I realized that you deleted this page in 2007. I have just noticed that similar pages exist for de.wiki (de:Verwaltungssprache) and it.wiki (it:Burocratese)... whoch is quite bizzare because they are two wikis much more selective than en.wiki, really. Just for your information, but considering also that the word appears in more than 24.900 entries on google books, I think that maybe restoring the page in en.wiki will reduce in the future content asymmetries. It will also help to give a more global taste to both current pages in Italian and German, which are too much focused on their language despite indicating with their name a very generic neutral meaning that should apply to all possible existing languages (the titles both mean "bureaucratic jargon"). Just my opinion, I don't have time for a complete "discussion" on the topic, I have just informed you. Teahouse serves over 700 new editors in six months on Wikipedia! Since February 27, 741 new editors have participated at the Teahouse. The Q&A board and the guest intro pages are more active than ever.
Automatic invites are doing the trick: 50% more new editors visiting each week. Ever since HostBot's automated invite trial phase began we've seen a boost in new editor participation. Automating a baseline set of invitations also allows Teahouse hosts to focus on serving hot cups of help to guests, instead of spending countless hours inviting.
Guests to the Teahouse continue to edit more & interact more with other community members than non-Teahouse guests according to six month metrics. Teahouse guests make more than twice the article edits and edit more talk pages than other new editors.

Zorpia
While reviewing articles in AfC, I came across one called Zorpia. It seemed to be fine, had adequate references, could still use a little work though. I decided it was enough to be accepted, and started to do so. But then I learned that the title Zorpia was protected because of a deletion (and if I read the discussion correctly, some spam of some sort) and I couldn't create the article. I wasn't quite sure what procedure to take to see about creating the page/removing the protection, so I thought I'd contact you; since you seemed to be involved in the deletion. The AfC page is here. This is a courtesy notice. I'm about to undelete juncture, on the grounds that we made a mistake in 2005 here when we were cleaning up the transwikification backlogs. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate:).
