Any chance of putting these on Wikimedia Commons?

Honestly, i don't really see the point; there have been two DYK about Sillaginidae taxa in the past week, and as i create this series of articles, it seems pretty pointless to keep creating DYK suggestions for all of them. Thanks for the message. You caught me in the middle of a little re-jiggle, hence the duplication. I found the original layout ambiguous and rather confusing and also felt that a 'disambiguation', or perhaps 'list' page would be a more suitable (and standard) place to develop a more complete listing of the various whitings which occur around the world. I'm glad you understand and appreciate my intentions! It is good to see someone looking after Wikipedia too. Re. pointing the whiting (fish) redirect at the disambiguation page. Would a 'Whiting (fish) redirects here, for other fish called whiting see whiting (fish) (disambiguation).' at the top of the Merlangius_merlangus page satisfy your concerns? Isn't this usual in cases where numerous things have all been named after one common predecessor? Part of the problem I with the original layout was the excessive drill down which it took to get from whiting to the article about the fish called whiting (Merlangius_merlangus). Obviously the names of the other types of whiting such as Sillago, pollock, hake, pacific whiting et al. can, and should, lead directly to their articles so why do you feel it necessary to bury the Merlangius_merlangus so deeply? Thank you for your input. Seriously, you have a lot more experience at this than I. I was reading What is a good article?, and for broad coverage, note 3 says that "This requirement is significantly weaker" than for FA's. On Good vs. Featured, it says, in regard to GA, "the broad standard merely requires coverage of main points". I'm not suggesting that the article is a great article, but I believe it (barely) meets GA. Do you think I'm being overly generous in my interpretation? Do you still need Erickson et al (2001) "Dinosaurian growth patterns and rapid avian growth rates." Nature 412: 429-433 doi:10.1038/35086558?

If so, i have it and have scanned through it. It has a bit on growth rates of Massospondylus, but not much on the actual mass. It does have a ref to a paper which has supposedly calculated the mass:

Wow, I didn't think anyone had it, and I'm really surprised a comment that old was responded to. First of all, thank you for your generous offer. I'd like to take you up on it. I will use the Wikipedia e-mail function to give you my e-mail address.

Although I was hoping it would have some mass calculations, even if it doesn't, there may be some useful information in there that I can add to the Massospondylus article. I'd like this article to be as comprehensive as possible, and it won't be without the papers which discuss it. So I really appreciate your offer.

I did find some mass calculations for Massospondylus in Seebacher (2001) "A new method to calculate allometric length-mass relationships of dinosaurs" Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 21(1) 51–60, but that was based on a 4 meter length for Massospondylus, while some other sources give longer lengths for it. Obviously, if a second opinion exists on weight, I'd like to have it. It's too bad the paper doesn't have it, but I will be on the lookout for Chinsamy (1993). Thanks for the tip.

I just came across this article that seems to be an offshoot of the origin of birds page. It deals with Deinonychosauria and the fact they are mostly Creatceous in origin while aves were up and running by the end of the Jarassic. Therefore aves could't have evolved from deinonychosaurs etc etc. Anyway it's not Dino tagged and in need of formatting, so i will leave it with you. Kare Kare 08:45, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kare Kare. Thanks for educating me on fish identification. I'm none more than a connoisseur of sea food. :-) I went by this common name in Malayalam to come to that conclusion. The shop was run by a Malayalee and he said it's "paara". Perhaps he meant this fish which is "paarai" in Tamil language and he knows I'm Tamil. :-) And in Tamil "paarai" is more of a generic name. I'd say it is possible to write that article. However, it would not be so much on the species as on the name. Basically you'd have a more detailed retelling of the confusion and a summary of the current highly disputed status, and details regarding the purported differences between the species, but not treating it as a fully legit species. WP:DINO has articles on a number of nomina nuda, dubia, and misattributions you can look at (e.g. Angaturama, Antrodemus, Apatodon, Arkansaurus). Circeus (talk) 04:36, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

The image actually shows Coober Pedy Council although you have denoted it as Roxby Downs. The other enclave to the south-east of the one you have marked on the South Australian LGA map is the correct location of Roxby Downs. It wasn't me, but I was about to take care of it myself. In response to the IP Exemption thing, we only grant that in exceptional cases, where the user is either completely unable to edit due to an IP block we really can't remove due to the situation that led to the block, or when the autoblocks are becoming so frequent it causes nearly the same level of difficulty. Since I can only see two instances of an autoblock on this talk page (I know you said three, but I'm not seeing it), there doesn't seem to be enough disruption to your editing to grant it just yet. I actually haven't heard of this "outline" thing before, but Portal:Contents/Outline of knowledge suggests it's supposed to be a table of contents of sorts for the topic. I agree that the current shark outline needs a lot of work, but it has a construction tag, and I'm not familiar enough with the outline project in general (personally I don't really see the point, but apparently others do) to know whether it would meet deletion criteria. Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest!
