News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2022).
Hello hello. I hope this message finds you well.
The Wikimedia Foundation Inc. Board of Trustees election ends soon, please vote. At least one of the candidates is worthy of support. --MZMcBride (talk) 14:56, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

#p-namespaces
should be updated to use the mw.util.addPortletLink
function instead. Gadgets that style this id should consider also targeting #p-associated-pages
, the new id for this row. Examples are available. Tech news prepared by Tech News writers and posted by bot • Contribute • Translate • Get help • Give feedback • Subscribe or unsubscribe.

At I manually removed a report where the IPv6 range is already blocked. I notice that the bot actually does remove IPv6 addresses where they are range blocked, but in this case the bot did not. Could you please take a look? Thanks. 0xDeadbeef 06:28, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
If I add a comment to an AIV vandal listing that a vandal is a sock of some blocked editor, for instance, helperbot5 will immediately archive that comment. Example: I added a mention of a blocked IP here helperbot5 quickly removed the comment here. Is there a way to add such a comment w/o its removal? I replaced it w/o any links here. It would be nice to be able to use an IPvandal or such so that an admin could see its data. Thanks Adakiko (talk) 12:13, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

On September 7, 2022, in this edit, the bot gave a weird edit summary:
Empty. rm 2600:1001:B127:25A6:5930:D2CB:35C7:CE15 (Special:Contributions/ rangeblocked unknownby [[User:|User:]] (TPD)). 4 comment(s) removed.
without mentioning which admin rangeblocked the IP user. Perhaps I'm not the only one who noticed this. Please fix it so users who report to AIV don't have to cross check IP blocks again and again. —CrafterNova [ TALK ] [ CONT ] 16:54, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

templatelinks
table are now being dropped: tl_namespace
and tl_title
. Any queries that rely on these fields need to be changed to use the new normalization field called tl_target_id
. See T299417 for more information. This is part of normalization of links tables. Changes later this week
