Hello there. Since you designed the guestbook list template, you could help me with something. It says to "add your guestbook to the appropriate column". How do I choose which column? 2D Backfire Master talk, guestbook 12:06, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jack,
I've started to clean up the Adopters' list. You appear to appear to have been editing only sporadically in the last months. I wonder if you're still interested in adopting new users. If you're not interested any more, would you mind removing yourself? Thank you and happy editing, Snowolf How can I help? 11:49, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
... In the pages about your willingness to adopt new editors , you wrote, "I have the greatest experience writing and expanding articles. If you have a topic you would like to research, I can assist you with the process of making it excellent. If you love it and you're willing to work at it, just let me know." Thank you. All of us need to know how to learn, and we mostly need to know to make our own work effective and worthwhile, without relying on others to do our work for us. Helping us learn how to take our own work from good to better, then from better to great, and finally from great to excellent is the essence of being an effective teacher. It's wonderful to know that there are teachers out there, like you, who are willing to spend their time helping the rest of us get up to speed. Kudos!
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. 7 00:01, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jack, I have no idea whether this message will reach you or not, as I have not used this feature before, but I hope it does. If you follow the link I added to the entry on poetry, you will see that it is to a non-profit, scholarly project with zero cost to users. I added the link to it because I believe it to be of genuine cultural and intellectual interest to readers of the entry on poetry. If you have removed it, I would be grateful if you would change it back. I do not see how you could possibly object to it.
All best wishes,
Martin

Please stop reverting my edits to the above, they are both contructive and sourced. Thanks 194.80.49.252 (talk) 17:16, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jack, many thanks for your useful message. I looked through the materials you sent me, and added a new section "external links" to the poetry entry. (I know that Wikipedia does not normally want to function as a repository of external links but in the case of something like poetry links to recordings seem essential to me: people who read the entry will want to know how the poems discussed in it actually sound. I hope that people will add links from many more cultural traditions).

Would you like the offensive edit removed from your talk page history? --B (talk) 23:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
I do not appreciate your comments and threats that you have left on my edits. When Paulo Patton appears on Law&Order Special Victims Unit this fall, we'll see who's right. And quite frankly, I don't care if you suspend me. You can suspend me for a year if you want. Goodbye and good reddens. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.60.75.153 (talk) 20:08, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, firstly, welcome back . You may find it a rather different place to when you left, however. But can I know how you came across my userpage in the first place? Regards, sonia♫♪ 01:28, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi! I'm Belugaboy, and I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm a new inductee to your list. I was wondering if I could help you sweep out the "dead" guestbooks. Either reply on my talk page or leave a talkback there. Thanks so much!
Hi - thanks for your message, and welcome back. There's no rule as to when "many" can be used in an article and, as you indicate, it can often be superfluous. But, in other uses, it can be important to the meaning of a sentence - for example, "Even by 1981, social polarisation (as defined by the Census and Registrar-General) in Sheffield was far lower than in many other cities...", while not the clearest of sentences, implies something rather different to "Even by 1981, social polarisation (as defined by the Census and Registrar-General) in Sheffield was far lower than in other cities..." - without the "many", to me, it implies "...far lower than in [all] other cities..." It is part of a massive drive of tagging user pages for speedy deletion that I did a year ago. Alexius08 (talk) 11:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Your [profiles picture] (do you have a bot to change it?) is very nice. Thanks for sharing. Gut Monk (talk) 00:42, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I love your picture ;) Especially considering it's of something from Tassie :) Good luck with the FAC, too. Aaroncrick TALK 05:50, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I reverted it by mistake, clicking on the wrong link in a list. Sorry about that. Si Trew (talk) 10:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jack, thanks for your work on the Sheffield article. I was involved in the first FAC, and also in trying to avoid being delisted last year, so I know how much work it is. I'll try to help fix to any problems that are highlighted in the FAC. I'll also have a pre-emptive attempt at fixing the climate section, which is basically a cut/paste job from its source. —Jeremy (talk) 16:24, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for waiting, I forgot to check my messages.
Anyways, here's the translation of thatimage:
Constitution
Of Saint Synod in Principality of Montenegro
CETINJE, DRŽAVNA MONARHIJA, 1904.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Article 1.
Autocephal Orthodox Mitropholy in Principality of Montenegro, as a member of the only holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, of which the
shepherd and the head is Lord and our God Jesus Christ, guards and keeps unity in dogmas and canonical bodies with all the other Orthodox autochephal churches, and this unity shall be kept until the end of time.
The translation is not perfect,as I couldn't find the adequate English counterparts for some terms, so I've aimed more for preserving the meaning than style. Hope it'll be useful to you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vitkogames (talk • contribs) 14:07, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I can delete things from your userpage. Do you want to have "true" deletion or just "grayed out" RevDeletion (which is much more common nowadays)? Or does it not matter. Note: Im going to bed now and will be up in about 8 hours. —Soap— 01:23, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
It really doesn't matter, but it appears your home wiki didn't gravitate to en.wiki as I thought it might. To rectify this (if you care), you can have a steward delete your global SUL and create it again from en.wiki. –xenotalk 16:35, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bydand and thanks for helping out with closing VPCs. Please make sure you go through each step of the closing procedure. Also note that generally is preferrable for candidates to be closed by editors who were not involved in the voting process of the subject image, otherwise the closure can be contested and challenged. Your closure of Wolf Point, Chicago was really on the edge, given that you provided the fourth vote necessary for promotion and closed immediately afterwards, and were not following the usual bottom up order. If it was my delay between the stages of the closure of the other 5 images I did in parallel which confused you, I appologize. Any further help with VPC closures will be much welcome. --Elekhh (talk) 01:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I have a suggestion: replacing the template with a category page, with the category added to each guestbook. How does that sound? Ocean Shores Formerly TEK (talk • e-mail) 03:26, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

You just had to tell me that I was dead wrong when Paula Patton was joining Law and Order SVU, Well guess what? SHE IS! I was right all along and you threatened to suspend me for posting the truth! YOU SHOULD BE SUSPENDED —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.60.75.153 (talk) 22:33, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Should be delisted, as it relies on quite a few unreliable (MySpace, etc.) sources, etc. Any chance you want to work on this? I'm not much of a delisting guy myself, but you should be able to push it up to the current GA standards. —fetch·comms 23:40, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:

Hi there Jack! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.
On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.
Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.
Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.
