If I were you, I would remove the first sentence on the front of your profile page. It isn't very polite and puts-down a fellow Wikipedian. --Hollow Wilerding 01:43, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Well unless I am terribly mistaken—in which I offer you an utter-most apology—are you not referring to another individual on Wikipedia? That is I believe the front of your userpage suggests: I have been "attacked" as Guettarda - Liberal Admin, and criticised for editing topics I know about. I don't think there is any better compliment here in Wikipedia. Maybe I'll add that to my sig. I am truly sorry if what I read was miscommunicated to me. --Hollow Wilerding 13:54, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if it's policy, policy is just a means of codifying good practice. I don't think anyone would argue it is not good practice refrain from using the rollback in edit wars. Saying it's not policy sounds a little like lawyering. Perhaps you should read tha page I pointed Dunc to, Wikipedia:Revert#Admins, I think it's some pretty good advice, even if it is just a "guideline." And if you are suggesting that there isn't consensus that the rollback shouldn't be used in edit wars, I think that would be quite mistaken. Dmcdevit·t 03:36, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Please explain to me why you feel you have the right to attack my religious beliefs/call me a liar. This is exceedinly offensive, even for you. Guettarda 01:06, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Guettarda I don't understand what offended you. I am sorry if I caused you offense. I don't think I called you a liar. Either way I did not mean to and I apologize. If there is a specific attack against you that you would like me to remove from the page I will do it.--Ben 01:41, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi there, I fully understand that you have removed my RFA and I thank you very much for doing so. I will try harder next time, and hope to get my edit count up to as high as I possibly can! Thank you very much again. --Hillhead15 15:59, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
It seems the fair use tags are some continually shifting sands. After looking into it further, I find that recently an distinction was introduced between general representations of heraldry vs. governmental/institutional seals, etc. For the former, apparently there is creative work in rendering the blazon in a particular illustration, thus these should be replaced with free images drawn from the blazon. Evidently, a new tag, {{symbol}}, was introduced to cover the case of governmental/institutional seals. I have retagged it at {{symbol}}, which gives appropriate text. (Going now to look over the others I did recently). Thanks for the feedback. --Tabor 23:21, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Since one of your primary interests is in all things Trinidad and Tobago, could you look at the Signal Hill disambiguation page and make sure that the information that I added on Signal Hill, Tobago is accurate. BlankVerse 21:03, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
I just thought that it'd be better to have as much detail as possible - do you know where on the island he was born, as this would clearly be much more useful than just the island name. Warofdreams talk 19:36, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Actually, the Wikipedia:Remove_personal_attacks#Who_should_refactor.3F suggested policy says that the victim should not refactor or remove the personal attacks. However, in the discussed instance, I fail to see how ant's commenting on FM's editing patterns constitutes a personal attack, anyway. David Bergan 20:09, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi Guettarda - User:Chaosfeary has moved Poison-ivy to Poison-ivy (plant) and then made Poison-ivy a redirect to a disambig page Poison ivy - all totally un-necessary and over-cumbersome. Any chance you could move it back, please? - thanks, MPF 20:40, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Hey, Guettarda. If/when you have an opportunity, would you please drop by dreadlocks? User Coyep is intent on using a photo which does not, unfortunately, illustrate the subject at hand. Further, he insists on deleting some text I wrote about the possible connection between Egyptian dreadlocks and the phenomenon in India. I'd like your take on the disputes. Thanks. I've also asked for User:Jmabel's input.

Yeah, I should have left a message first.
Thanks for being tolerant.
Regards, Ben Aveling 20:10, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I should have done left the message first, because having made the correction, I noticed that the new section was being discussed elsewhere, and then I saw the new proposal for blocking people you're involved in, and then I ... And next thing, its "you have new messages"... Oops!
Thanks again, Ben Aveling 20:23, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
Just wondered whether you might be able to contribute something to this article. It is about the study of labor history and its evolution over the years. I thought you might know something about how labor history has interacted with black history, questions of race and class, etc and might be abloe to add some useful info. By the way, did you see the cat I secretly added here a few days ago? Mattley 11:51, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, Guettarda! Many thanks for your extremely rapid and helpful response! In gratitude, I'm sending you a freshly-baked apple turnover, made by me earlier this evening! I'll have a look at the changes you made in the coding tomorrow, to see if I can figure out what you did, so that I'll be able to do it myself in future. I actually don't have a clue about how any of these boxes (Babel, etc.) are made, but I steal things from other user pages, and mess around with them using the preview button until they look okay on my own page. I find I can do quite a lot on Wikipedia without really understanding it. Cheers. AnnH (talk) 00:56, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
It's true that the situation with you-know-who has been getting to me, but I'm still hanging on. Thank you for the supportive note. It makes all the difference. SlimVirgin (talk) 12:53, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
Hello Guettarda,
When (if?) you have time, please check this out and see if you can turn some of your editing energies to the matter; thanks, Slrubenstein | Talk 22:36, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for suggesting that I offer prayers for understanding and clear communication, et al. I have had an epiphany as a result, and I credit you with leading me to it. I'm back to making a nice encyclopedia. :) Uncle Ed 14:58, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
Check out the Jesus article and edit it to keep it focused on Jesus and a biographical account of Him. Watch the Jesus page to keep it focused on Him. Thank you. Scifiintel 22:01, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi Guettarda,
I wish I did. I've been watching those pages for ages without any good ideas. I've started User:BenAveling/Scientific_theory where I started to work through the issues with KC, and there's the start of a conversation with dear Uncle Ed here that might get interesting.
To summarise my POV, ID raises some interesting questions that show that our understanding of evolution is incomplete, but it does nothing to suggest that it's actually wrong, just that there are (possibly important) things that we really don't understand (yet).
If I'm right, then that's an interesting middle ground between 'ID is psuedo science' and 'all darwinists are amoral athiests'.
Thanks for the question. Ben Aveling 02:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi, thanks a ton for voting on my rfa - the final tally was 50-0-0 and I hope to do my best in maintaining the integrity of wikipedia. --Gurubrahma 11:40, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Thank you, Guettarda, for your support in my RfA - it was about time indeed! I'll do my best as an admin to make the reality of Wikipedia rise to the level of the dream. BD2412 T 02:29, 8 December 2005 (UTC) <--note new "admin gold" sig :-D
After days of fixing the page on The Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, I am asking you to determine whether it is eligible for featured article status. Read its peer review page and leave any comments inside it.
Someone needs Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide to complete the article (with his comments on the film). Do you, or does anyone you know, have a copy? --Slgrandson 16:10, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, thank you for sticking it out with all the creationist maniacs. Get this: a former student of mine once attended a lecture given by a creationist against evolution. As one example of why evolution is wrong, he said that evolutionists use fossils of extinct species of fish, impressed on the sea floor. But (he goes on to say) we all know that when fish die they float to the surface. I kid you not. Slrubenstein | Talk 21:06, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

If they are licensed as {{cc-by-2.5}}, then they are totally compatible (it puts almost no restraints on usage except for attribution). All we need to do is give them credit the way they specify and keep the right tag on there. --Fastfission 17:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey Guettarda! Thanks for your support on my RfA. The final outcome was (57/4/3), so I am now an administrator. If you need help, have a question, or just want to chat (or if I get out of line!), please don't hesitate to let me know! Again, thanks! :D
Thanks to everyone for their support. I've now had time to clear my head. I agree that we can't back down to the idiots who drove out Deeceevoice. Personally, I hope she returns but until then we've got work to do. I'd strongly suggest that everyone keep an eye out for users engaging in racism and bias. I'm also hoping that we will keep in touch about this issue and let each other know when we encounter racist editors and such. Any other ideas how to combat this?--Alabamaboy 15:05, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I noticed that you changed "Lake Trinidad" to Pitch Lake in the Asphalt article. I have several engineering reference books that mention Lake Trinidad as a large natural asphalt deposit. Is there also a Lake Trinidad, is that an old name, or do you think that's just an error? Toiyabe 18:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

The third sentence states:
The vast majority of the scientific community views intelligent design not as a valid scientific theory but as neocreationist pseudoscience or junk science.[3]
And there is a vast difference between the word theory as it is commonly used and scientific theory, which the above sentence clearly states. And the word conjecture is needlessly pejorative, since it means a theory for which there is no observable evidence. I explained this on my edit. ID is ridiculous on its face and does not need POV words to frame the argument. And ID is a theory as most people understand the word theory, much as Santa Claus is a theory explaining Christmas presents :P. I am changing it back, please pause a bit before getting in a revert war with someone who isn't even on the opposing side.Keep in mind that ID proponents like Behe define theory very loosely, loosely enough that it encompasses Astrology --DocJohnny 08:43, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
RE the following:
"I hope you do not actually work in ecology. Unsubstantiated hand waving hurts the credibility of ecology. The right wing quite effectively undercuts the science of ecology by painting us as handwaving hippies. In the US the environmental battle has already been lost because we lost control of the framing of the debate. Refusing to be constrained by little things by facts is the favourite technique of the opposition. It only strengthens their hand when people on this side of the debate adopt their techniques. Guettarda 02:44, 15 September 2005 (UTC)"
And by the way, your argument about "not all introduced species" establish is not clever, and is in fact rather immature. It goes without saying that we are only discussing exotic species that establish.
Codman 01:27, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
The list wasn't a joke. So I do not know why you did this. You would know this if you read the part of the labeling that stated "Non-fiction". Even if it was a joke, it deserved to be mentioned. I don't think the deaths of several military contractors was a joke, so obviously you ought not to. I will rv your edits if you don't give me better explanation. Please, I don't feel like edit warring.I have an inkling POV is coming into this article somehow. Why do you think it was a joke? Эйрон Кинни 19:26, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
