Greetings. I just submitted two new drafts. Both are biographies for two deceased persons. Please review (as you did before) and approve if they are good to to be published. The two links are Antone AbdulNour and Abdulaziz AbdulNour. Hope you have a good day. SULNOUR (talk) 17:54, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, SULNOUR,
- I did a copyedit on Draft:Antone AbdulNour, and added a few wikilinks and categories.
- It is currently an "orphan" article, meaning there are no incoming links from other articles in Wikipedia. Once it is published, you can list it on the page Abd al-Nur and any other pages where Antone AbdulNour might be mentioned-- otherwise it will be tagged as an "orphan".
- Lastly, can you supply translations of the titles in references #1 and #2, and a title and translation for #9?
- I'll take a look at Draft:Abdulaziz AbdulNour later this evening. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 22:23, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Grand'mere Eugene. Thanks for the comments. I had a plan to add some links to this article and the other one once they are published. As for a translation for the references here they are. Ref #1: The History of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Mosul, Ref #2: The History of Courts and Management Orders in Mosul, and Ref #9:The Title is "Al-Hikma" which was a monthly magazine published in 1914 at Mor Hananyo Monastery in Mardin, Turkey. Your work on Lakeview Academy does you credit. Thank you for your sourcing and good faith edits to improve the page in the spirit of a true wikipedian. You made us look good in front of a bunch of high school kids. What they end up doing is kinda up to the school, but we did our job. Thank you. BusterD (talk) 23:08, 15 February 2023 (UTC) |
- Thanks very much! It was a challenge to find the sources and construct text with NPOV. I've worked a bit today on the order of the content on desegregation. Maybe other editors can improve it. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 23:56, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- We have an opportunity here, and that's why your work was so important. If you've done this right, we'll soon be seeing odd vandalism from local ips. If some of the kids continue the improvement, win, win. BusterD (talk) 00:10, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Bessemer Academy is an article that is a bit similar to Lakeview Academy. The article is not very good; there are few references. The place has a nasty history as a segregation academy. Connected contributors are starting to try to pretty it up. I spent some time looking for sources. They don't report to NCES (although it appears they did back in 2012), which is typical of seg academies. I expect that before long, it will be nominated for deletion....would you consider taking a look at it and seeing if you could improve the article? Thanks! — Jacona (talk) 19:24, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Jacona, I've started a search, and wondered if you had seen this? Maybe it's just an erroneous 2nd party listing? I also left a level 3 warning on the most recent troublesome IP, which is probably a shared address at the school. One interesting bit is about a movie being filmed there, here (and it's enough in depth to count toward GNG). Otherwise, the best source so far related to segregation academies is the one already cited in the article. I'll look more once my laptop recharges. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 23:39, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- I looked at private school review , niche, greatschools etc.-but I don’t think they are considered reliable. They generally echo NCES data…they re-report BAs demographics citing NCES from over a decade ago! I also noted maxpreps supported that they are still using the Rebels nickname. I just don’t know if it would add up to enough to survive an AfD. — Jacona (talk) 01:00, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- I added a quote parmeter to "The Rebel Made Me Do It" --a paraphrase could expand the info in the article.
- Here are a few more potential sources:

- Jacona, I think it now meets WP:GNG, and WP:THREE is easy to demonstrate. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 23:48, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
