There is currently a backlog of 52 users at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user. Please consider offering adoption to one or more of these users. Don't forget to change their {{adoptme}} template to {{adoptoffer|Fox/May 2008}}. Thank you for your continued participation in Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. xenocidic (talk) 20:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC) |
I didn't vandalize anything. Just take a look at the edits because you warn me. You will notice that I was reverting edits made 2 weeks ago by Special:Contributions/81.149.22.123, and User:Smsarmad, who is most likely the anon, was reverting my edits. 77.42.187.213 (talk) 20:51, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello there Fox/May 2008,
We here at Wikiproject Law Enforcement are currently in the process of deciding wither or not to make this WikiProject Law Enforcement's official Barnstar award. Being that you are a member of Wikiproject Law Enforcement, we are humbly asking you to voice your opinion here about our new Barnstar.
Thank You and All the Best, Mifter (talk) 21:00, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I regret losing my temper. But you should notice that the anon who removed Shia Islam from the infobox first replaced it with Sunni Islam and did so in many articles. Also, the denomination should be included in the infobox, as it is with almost every Sunni Muslim. I kindly ask you to undo your own edit to Ayub Khan.77.42.187.213 (talk) 21:11, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Sure, tell me when you want to start. Elluminate (talk) 05:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, block anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion for more than 5 days (provided there's a consensus), protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.
Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=WilliamH (talk) has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. On July 15th, I'll be starting a (hopefully) big collaboration/competition at the AWC.
I'm scrambling around trying to get everything prepared in time.
One area I'm not all that adept in is graphic arts, and the competition needs 3 very nicely designed awards for participants.
The first one is nearly complete, but I'm having trouble with it.
Here's what has been done so far...
The awards will all be non-barnstar awards, and geography-related. I liked the globe in stand of the interlingual barnstar award, but the barnstar made the globe unusuable:
File:Interlingual Barnstar.png
So I stripped out the globe and barnstar, to get this:
I needed a transparent background, and all that took was to add a transparent layer, then select and erase the original background so the transparent background is all that was left:
File:Globe stand with transparent background.png
I then found a picture of Earth in this screen capture from NASA's Worldwind program:
I carefully drew a thick red ring around the Earth, blacked out (painted black over) everything outside the red ring, then made the black transparent, followed by making the red transparent, leaving just the globe.
The GIMP supports layering, scaling, and positioning, which makes it easy to add components, so I added the blue marble to the globe stand to get this...
Then I took this:
Hi there, I added back the deleted sentences:
In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked the University of Chicago's undergraduate program the 4th best in the country under Harvard, Yale, and Princeton based on post-graduation achievements and student evaluations.[1] In 2008, Forbes also named the University of Chicago a "billionaire university," ranking the university as the 7th most successful university in the country for producing billionaire alumni.[2]
My argument is that these two achievements are constructive in light of the University of Chicago's relative obscurity within the general public, as compared with institutions of similar stature within academia and/or academic contributions. These two rankings, both recently published by a highly reputable publication, offer information about the University of Chicago that would surprise many people. Thanks for reading. 128.135.208.207 (talk) 09:06, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
