Hi Ebyabe -- Would you please request reversal of the Portal addition to the NRHP template, and then we can discuss the Portal and the Template on the Talk page of WP:NRHP. I directly asked User talk:Happy-melon, who had implemented the change in response to your prior edit-protected request, to remove it, but he seems to be refusing to do so. - I asked. I didn't think it would cause a ruckus, honest. Maybe adding it to the template was premature. But as is, the portal is already as good as some out there. Oh, when the shortcut is removed from the template, could the portal be restored, please? It's been languishing in my userspace for ages, and if that's the only place it'll get worked on, I'm afraid it will languish even longer.
- Btw, I shan't be available again until at least Sunday. I'm going to St. Augustine tomorrow. Going to get shots of 6 NHLs (incl. an NHL district, the town itself), both National Monuments, and as many NRHPs as I can get. And a food and music festival. Hi, I see that you created this article and then merged it into Lakeland High School. In MHO, it can stand on its own and gets lost in the bigger article. What are your thought on recreating it and leaving a small section in LHS with a not to see Main Article? Thanks again for all your many kindnesses. - Did I? I can't remember that far back. :) It could probably be separated, since the building itself is notable as an NRHP.
- And thank you for taking so many of the little stubbies I made and pictures I took and making something of them. It's why I made them; I figure it's easier to expand something existing than to create it from scratch.
- I do need to get back to Lakeland, too. I took all those photos with the crappy disposable camera. It'll take a good part of a day to cover the place appropriately. I know of two people (you and another) who have interest in stuff there. You have interest in one architect, and he in a different one, who has a number of his designed buildings here. So maybe that should be my next trip. :)
- Oh, I did get some shots of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. It was closed, so I got what I could thru the gates. Pretty place. I'll let ya know when they're uploaded. Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. Hi, Thanks for your message of support. I guess I should know better than to do a lot repetitive type edits late at night. It seems to trigger profiling programs. Anyway, I can laugh about it now. Anyway I'm learning a lot doing the tables and Elkman's programs do the hard work. ONE DYK for instance is there are 5 Round Barns on the NRHP and they're all in Ohio. - Yep, thank goodness for Elkman! I'd been planning to table-ize Florida, and when I realized he had that lovely program set up, I had at. There's some things I have to tweak, b/c I'm so OCD. Mostly the addresses; I don't like the abbrevs. So I have to change Ave to Avenue and Rd to Road and so on. St and Dr are tricky, since they can also be short for Saint and Doctor (respectively). Oh, and the state abbrevs don't always work. That's why I make sure to change the FL's to Florida. Did the same with Oh to Ohio. We are the nuts, aint' we? :) Keep up the good work!

- Btw, are you photographic? I now can see that Martin County is one of the ones with no pictures. So if you (or anyone you know) could get photos to fill in the gaps, it would be terrif. - Feel free to borrow. Much of the stuff there I borrowed myself, so it's all good. :)
- Assessment not a prob. I'm sort of the unofficial NRHP assessor, and noticed that the unassessed article count had gotten high (over 40, I think), so I had at. Don't be afraid to assess your own article. I did a lot of the ones on List of Registered Historic Places in Florida, and knew they were stubs, so assessed them as such. Higher than that can be iffy, though. That's why I did the easy ones first. The ones left are start or B, but am still debating with myself as to which ones are which. Anyhoo, welcome aboard, and above all, have fun. And if you've not already, make some time for photo-taking roadtrips. - Your logic seemed more reasonable. I think the situation has mostly sorted itself out though, no? As long as the revert wackiness has died down, things seem to be OK. Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. - Others may have rated it differently. I tend to be a bit stingy on ratings, risking underrating than overrating. A pic might help. More words and refs definitely would. Most of the Florida NRHPs I created were stubs, and still are. But at least they exist, and others have expanded on some of them. Hi there, I'm looking to make a template similar to Template:List of Registered Historic Places in Florida topnav for Ohio. I was wondering if you used a program to generate that or if you did it by hand. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks! §hep • ¡Talk to me! 16:51, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- A bit of both. I used a program (this one), but had to draw the county boundaries. It's a sort of connect-the-dots method.
- Use the "Load from Wikimedia project" box, enter "commons.wikimedia.org" in the Wikimedia project field, and "Ohio counties map.png" in the Name field. Go down to the "Areas" box and click "Polygon". I'd enter the county name for reference in the "Title" field. Then pick the county and connect-the-dots, as it were. When you're done, click "Polygon" again and go to the next county, etc. I'd copy the code and save it in some other form (Word, Excel, or even Notepad), every few counties, so you don't lose too much if a glitch happens. 'Cause believe me, you only want to do the drawing of each county once.
- Oh, you're going to have fun. Florida only has 67 counties, I see Ohio has 88. On the other hand, most of the Ohio counties are fairly square or rectangular. Florida has several mini-peninsula extensions and crinkly bits. I did as best I could. If you need any more help/advice, feel free to drop me a line. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 22:29, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi -- I wonder if you've noticed doncram's wt:NRHP proposal towards completing the start, at least, of all the NHL articles nation-wide by June 29 or so. I've been marching through the state lists, doing a quick review of each article. The Florida list looks great (truly one of the easiest I've reviewed), in large part due to your widespread work. I wonder if you'd be willing to address some Florida issues, about including infoboxes and NHL designation dates and the NHL summary webpage source. There's been some talk of creating a joint IUCN/NRHP infobox in the future, so we're sort of leaving those alone. However, it's still nice to have the NHL designation date and the NHL summary (National Historic Landmarks Program) listing in each article. Dade Battlefield Historic State Park and Fort Mose Historic State Park have IUCN infoboxes, mention the designation date, but don't have the reference. Fort San Marcos de Apalache doesn't mention NHL status or have the reference. Mud Lake Canal has NRHP infobox, needs the reference. Ponce de Leon Inlet Light needs either NRHP infobox or at least NHL designation date, as well as the reference. Villa Vizcaya is tagged for citations. Can you help? The idea is to celebrate with a nation-wide NHL list DYK to appear on Independence Day (United States). Let me know, thanks, Lvklock (talk) 06:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

- I am really happy our WikiProject has grown to be what I think is one of the most active and visible ones. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it'd take off like it has. Mostly I did it b/c someone suggested the idea to me, after I'd stubbed and otherwise de-redlinked List of Registered Historic Places in Florida. My semi-OCD comes in handy sometimes. *hee*
- Oh, and I believe all ten of the photos I submitted for the NHL photo contest were accepted. I know 3 were definitely, and I re-subbed the other 7. Now that I know, though, I can plan for next year. Ironically, a new monument with the NHL plaque got put up last month at Fort King. Plus they put a new sign on the road for it. Hi, Thanks for your recent messages. As a Gator alum, I'm always interested in new UF building articles. Thanks for notifying me on the 3 new NRHPs. I have some ideas for other articles on the campus. Tigert for one has always impressed me since I first saw it in the 9th grade. It makes an impressive appearance on SW 13th. On the courthouses, I'd like to do them all. I've looked for HDs or the UF-AIA book to hang them onto for notability. I did Madison today because someone put a dablink for the one in TX on one of the NRHP lists I watch. If you get back to St. Augustine, take a look at Clapp Octagon House on Anastasia Island. Also in Mayo, the House of the Seven Gables (Mayo, Florida). The old courthouse there is now an inn. That's on my list plus some others on the UF-AIA since there are no NRHPs in the county. Gilchrist, the other with no NRHPs, needs some articles, so its courthouse will be one of the next. I see you've done a picture of it. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 03:20, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Aha! I did go to UF, but didn't graduate. Worked on campus for a couple of years too. There's apparently a campaign to get more UF buildings added to the NRHP (around 6 to 10 more), and I think Tigert might be one of them. I did live in G'ville for over 20 years, so know ol' UF well. :)
- Madison has an historic district, but it's state, not national. I was surprised when I was there to see that. Just shows that there's a difference. Sort of like Davis Island is a state historic district, but on the NRHP there's only a bunch of the buildings that are on the island.
- I saw the Seven Gables article and will add it to my list when I get up in that neck of the woods. I wish I'd known about that Octagon House; I was at the lighthouse and climbed to the top (again). May have taken a photo of it accidentally. I'm going to upload some panoramas I stitched together from ones I took up there, and'll let you know, so you can see. Otherwise, yeah, next trip. :)
- It is sad there aren't any NRHPs in Lafayette or Gilchrist counties. But then, there's not much of anything in those counties. Nice state parks in Lafayette, which are on my itinerary.
- I do like the Gilchrist County Courthouse. Not as flashy as the one's like Madison's, but it has character. Unlike, say, this one. Cheers! --Ebyabe (talk) 22:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Great, i am glad you are creating that. I think those should be done for every list. As you may know, Ruhrfisch has done lots of these, such as for his featured list List of Pennsylvania state parks, and is one good person to consult.
But, offhand, here's an idea: i note that the multiple site ones are all around the coast, with Tampa being only a little ways inland. So, perhaps a dash from the location out into the ocean, and a cluster of 5, 3, 2, however many NHL dots, placed out in the ocean? Or an arrow from the ocean to the place. If you have the cluster of dots out there, then you can arbitrarily assign one NHL to each dot.

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues.
