Hi Boing! Are you an "involved editor" at Wuhan Institute of Virology (I've just been looking at the Talk page discussion and following up on the detail). Thanks, Arcturus (talk) 23:02, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
I am working on fixing up a historical biography-article with some serious sourcing and MOS issues - it has content lifted straight from a public domain source (book published in 1850) + an extensive quote from a historical source, etc.
Gawd help me re: the public domain sourcing but I CANNOT find the appropriate template/source template saying "This content is from [public domain source with publication date, etc]". I was thinking of something along the lines of the EB1911 Templates (using content taken from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica) but I can't find a generic template for public domain sources anywhere around here. I've been looking and looking with no real success - doing various searches on WP, heh even asked Google for a WP-answer - so I thought I'd ask you. Help! Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 16:24, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi Boing, an article was recently created about a private (i.e., not a public figure) living person who has been the target of an evidence-free conspiracy on Chinese social media. If this isn't disallowed by WP:BLP, I don't know what is. I don't even want to link to the article, in order to avoid bringing yet more attention to a malicious conspiracy theory targeting a private individual, but if you look at my contribution history, you'll find it very quickly. Could you take a look? Thanks, -Thucydides411 (talk) 10:00, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Could you please immediately block David Pahoraro Alternative and revoke TPA? It's Evlekis again. Pahunkat (talk) 09:33, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your explanation at ANI, Boing - it is very much appreciated. Please forgive my inquisitiveness and attempts to sort things out in my mind but there is a method to what some may misconstrue as my madness. As you are well aware (which includes other editors/admins who have been here long enough), these issues tend to crop up again and again in future discussions. With the latter in mind, I want to have things properly sorted out in my mind so that my responses are supported by facts, not just opinions. I'm of the mind that every issue, big or small, that might crop-up unexpectedly or deliberately requires a defense/offense/explanation based on deductive reasoning, diffs and straight-up facts. I meant everything I said about my respect for you, and want to make sure that you know my comments in that discussion were not meant as "criticism" of you, but rather they were intended for my own understanding. You came through with a common sense response, which is what I expected of you, and I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Your work as an admin is greatly appreciated...at least by this editor! Happy editing! Atsme 💬 📧 19:41, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Very sorry to hear you got the virus, Boing. Did you know RexxS had it a while back? I'm not sure he's fully recovered, either. It's all about resting, I gather. Have a little snack and feel better soon! Bishonen | tålk 21:33, 10 January 2021 (UTC).
Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Flowcode again --Guy Macon (talk) 04:55, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Boing!,
I have a question about your topic ban of ScrupulousScribe. You amended the topic ban to allow discussion on AN, ANI & SPI, specifically, but I assumed that meant that the editor could participate in discussions that touched on his topic ban in those venues where he was the subject of a complaint and needed to explain himself or his editing decisions. Does this change also cover noticeboards in general, like RSN, specifically, this very involved discussion about the COVID-19 lab leak theory? It seems like this is exactly the type of discussion that he should stay clear of that he was posting to today. I am not the type of admin who is into monitoring editors' behavior but it seems like this editor is pretty single-minded in this editing choices and keeps returning to this subject matter in articles, drafts and discussion boards.
I hope you are feeling better these days. Liz Read! Talk! 06:11, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Very sorry to hear that you seem to have the covid, and I wish you a full and complete recovery. When you're feeling better, I'd appreciate your thoughts on RationalWiki since I've just joined. Take care and all the best, Miniapolis 23:36, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Shame on me, Boing - I just now saw this thread. My youngest daughter & her husband had it, yet none of the kids caught it, and they relayed to me that it wasn't as bad as the flu they caught in prior years. On the other hand, I lost an elderly friend of 40 years to it, but he had underlying conditions, and another friend is in the hospital now about to go into surgery. Keep us posted - I worried constantly about RexxS and now I'm equally concernced about Berean Hunter who hasn't been heard from in months. It's a scary time!! I would be happy to add some humor to all of this, but right now, I'm much too worried. Don't be surprised if I come back in a day or two in an attempt to cheer you up - or maybe sooner. So you're reverting my erasing of an editor's bullying and doing nothing about it as an admin? Feynstein (talk) 14:40, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Seems like the editor you blocked just a few day ago hasn't got the memo about WP:3RR or edit-warring in general, if I can link to this... Should I make a thread at ANI and get an uninvolved admin or is this a clear enough "resuming disruptive behaviour immediately after the expiry of a previous block for the same disruptive behaviour"? Hi! I need Octavian Popescu (footballer, born 2002) to be moved to Octavian Popescu. Please help me, thanks! --End-of-season-updates (talk) 18:44, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi Boing, I was distressed to learn upon arriving here that you'd contracted COVID - hope you are fully recovered, or on your way towards it, now?
The reason I came here seems vanishingly trivial in comparison, but now that I'm here... Frank Howard Swart. It was nominated for speedy A7 last year, which you declined on the grounds that the discography represented a SIGNIF claim - perfectly reasonable, I agree it's not an A7. However, a few days ago I noticed that it is a near-identical copy of Frank Swart, which was deleted following a deletion discussion, recreated, and deleted again (G4) - this seems to be a recreation at a new title, presumably to avoid scrutiny. Oh yeah, and it's an autobio (see the talk page). Rather than delete myself, I tagged it with G4, but it's been a few days and nobody has acted on it - I'm guessing that's because they see your earlier decline. I wondered whether you would be willing to review and either delete, if you agree with my assessment, or otherwise decline my tag? I'll toddle over to AfD if that's what you think should happen, I have reviewed the sources and am convinced that GNG/NMUSIC aren't met. Cheers, and best wishes for your recovery, GirthSummit (blether) 20:22, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Just wanted to drop by and say hi, and send you some good wishes. "Hi" (not sure how to depict 'good wishes' - but I'm a doing it. :-)) Hope you had a great holiday season, and hope 2021 is better for everyone. — Ched (talk) 22:20, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay, I post here as I think it wouldn't be wise to pursue at the editor's talk page and I have no intention to add anything there at current time. I didn't spend much time looking for it but WP:TPA indeed doesn't support what I wrote. I know from experience that TPA typically gets removed for WP:SOAPBOXING instead of filing unblock requests (and I've seen admin write that TPA was a privilege to file unblock requests before, like WP editing is a privilege) so I advised believing it to be standard practice. It's of course up for admins (not me) to determine when soapboxing or disruption happens. Maybe relevant could be that SS actively recruited other people who might still be reading the page. Long posts accusing other editors also didn't seem constructive. What you wrote is also very relevant, that you don't need to participate in the debate (and shouldn't, to act as an uninvolved admin)... Feel free to reply, I always learn and think it's constructive. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 02:45, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

I do hope RexxS is ok. Dunno why you needed to remove your comment. It's the kind of thing that got me desysoped, but they can't do that to you! 😉 Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:40, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
This ranges farther afield from the issues on the case page which is why I hope you'll forgive me for bringing it up here. I don't want to continue/re-litigate the thing with Joe. However, I do wonder when people think the right time is for an arb (in this case me) to form an opinion about the right outcome to the case. Like I have an opinion given evidence presented at the case request about what outcome I might think appropriate. For instance, by the time I voted to accept the Kurds case I suspected we'd need to end up with DS based on the diffs that had been posted but I didn't have an opinion about the appropriate remedy towards editors (and indeed in the case of the site ban we handed out, was unsure even after the PD began about whether I supported that). Was I wrong to have DS in mind throughout the case? Or is the bigger idea, which is what I try to do, to be open to a variety of outcomes and be prepared to change my mind as new evidence comes in? If I'm really not supposed to form opinions until all evidence is presented, then I will basically need wait for the evidence phase to end before I read. Which means I wouldn't have posed my question which led to evidence I found helpful and which at least a couple editors have noted they appreciated. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:42, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
It is my professional opinion and nursing judgment that you had the right word the first time. Cheers, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 23:18, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi! How should (I / the community) handle User:Juliet2112? This seems to be a single-purpose account, but WP:SPA is just an essay. I think the purpose is disruptive, but others may disagree. Maybe all this user needs is some tactful guidance, but I'm none too good at that. Philip Trueman (talk) 12:20, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I am sorry if I am being disruptive. All I am trying to do on here is make the language used in some of the posts more humanising as I am passionate about challenging the dehumanising langauge and attitudes around Black people. Thanks Juliet2112 (talk) 16:15, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for what you said for RexxS - I think your evaluation was the best because the shortest. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:13, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Today: an article about music significant in my life, Bach's motet Jesu, mein Freude, with a long way from the start in 2006 to the Main page today ;) - It was my song of shrugging an arb verdict off, remember? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:18, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
