Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or by placing {{helpme}} on your talk page and a small message explaining the problem that you have on Wikipedia that needs solving. Doing so helps your helper and yourself! After placing {{helpme}} someone will come along and give you assitance. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page.

Hello Black lupin...
You may have noticed that I placed (the box below) on your main user page - can I adopt you? {{Adoptoffer}}
See You on Monday,
Booksworm Talk to me! 08:43, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I just wanted to make this nice and legally sound, please sign the below contract...(that is my nature, after all):
This is a binding contract finalising the adoption process in the Adopt-a-User process. The user being adopted Black lupin will be an adoptee of Booksworm (talk · contribs), until Black lupin has reached 500 Mainspace edits and has passed a General Wikipedia Information test (created by Booksworm), at which point Black lupin will no longer qualified as adopted. The Wikipedia General information test will occur at a time suitable for both adoptee and adopter. Once the test completed it will be delted from Black lupin's user pages, but will be archived on Booksworm's computer.
This contract may be terminated at any time - however, Booksworm must be informed of this termination. Information and assitance cannot be guaranteed during Holidays in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland and for holidays for the International School of Geneva, La Chataigneraie campus.

A "Mainspace" edit is an edit performed on an article (for example this, this and this). Edits on places like this, this and this do not count as "Mainspace" edits - nor do edits on your user pages and whatnot. I would like to see you on Monday regarding your userspace...

In order to encourage more participation, and to help people find a specific area in which they are more able to help out, we have organized taskforces at WikiProject Japan. Please visit the Participants page and update the list with the taskforces in which you wish to participate. Links to all the taskforces are found at the top of the list of participants.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for helping out! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 08:17, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to User:Brian Reed has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Michael Collins (Irish leader), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)
Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.
Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.
Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 21:21, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.
Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
