How do think that nickname shouldn’t be added...?Do you want me to add more Credible links to verify that every NFL writer calls him the goat!? Also the paragraph was pulled off NFL.com
How about you just google search “ whos the goat of the nfl” and see what comes up… Matty634 (talk) 21:21, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
BeanieFan11, thanks for removing that 1896 reference. That was a weird copy/paste error I made, I guess. I had just added that reference to 1896 Missouri Tigers football team and 1896 Vanderbilt Commodores football team, where it belongs. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:16, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
I'd like to further explain why I removed quotes of old advertisements at Green Meadow, Delaware. Our Reliable sources policy tells us that "Articles should be based on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy". Although most newspapers are trusted sources with good editorial oversight, ads (as explained in WP:SPONSORED) are not subject to fact-checking and are published verbatim. They fail both the "independent" and "reputation for fact-checking and accuracy" requirements.
It might seem like it would be OK to quote an ad if it's clearly described as such, and in many types of writing that would be the case. However Wikipedia content is bound by our Due weight policy, which tells us to cover "all significant viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources." If something only appears in an unreliable source such as an ad, it doesn't merit inclusion here.
A rule of thumb I like to follow is that Wikipedia articles are based on what independent reliable sources say about the subject, not what the subject says about itself. –dlthewave ☎ 18:19, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

The article John D. Naylor you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:John D. Naylor for issues which need to be addressed. The article John D. Naylor you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:John D. Naylor for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Can you make navboxes for the ACC coach of the year and those of other college conferences? Bigmike2346 (talk) 13:25, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Your decision to restore all of these men's soccer articles, for which there is extensive consensus that redirects are the right decision, is incredibly disruptive, especially since there is an open AFD regarding this exact issue. You should revert your changes until AFTER the AFD has concluded, not before. Jay eyem (talk) 23:11, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
There is already established consensus against the articles you are restoring. This was already settled in past AfDs and the most recent AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2019 Ohio State Buckeyes men's soccer team. Do I seriously need to take this to AfD? Jay eyem (talk) 15:52, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
I disagree with your reversion; the user in question has made only a single edit that hasn't in some way been involved in promoting a political meme after making a series of 20 small edits on October 5/6. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 15:42, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for taking up the CCNY challenge. The sourcing I found did not indicate the school was known as "CCNY" in the 1870s, nor was there any indication of a "Lavender" nickname. Let me know if you find any evidence of that. If not, and assuming the articles are rescued, we should consider moving to "187* City College of New York football team" or something along those lines. Hello! I wanted to reach out and inquire if you would be interested in helping me create a page for Shepherd Rams football. (full disclosure, I graduated from the school.) The team has made it in the past six years to the DII National championship, as well as the semi-finals, and is relatively routinely a power in division II, so I do believe it would be worth creating a page separate from their athletics page. I have no experience creating pages, but thought maybe you would be interested in helping.
Ps, your input in all of the recent AfD pages has really helped me understand the process and policies better (as I clearly jumped the gun on 2016 Shepherd Rams football team,) so I wanted to express appreciation in that regard. Spf121188 (talk) 20:48, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Well, I’ve never created a page, or even a template for one, so I’m not 100% sure where to even start. But, your template for Lock Haven football I feel like would be a good start. I think I could be of help to find some independent, reliable sources for program information (given that I know a decent amount about the football program there,) but the technical side of creating pages is where I struggle still since it’s new to me. If you have any guidance or resources on how to begin the page creation process, I think I can surface some sources to support creation for the page. Let me know where to start. Thank you again for your willingness to help with this! :) Spf121188 (talk) 03:29, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
BeanieFan11, let me see what I can find and I'll get right back to you. Also, it looks like a bot took down the picture I added. I'm unfamiliar with rules surrounding that so I'll look into that also. Thanks! Spf121188 (talk) 17:15, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

It seems like you've been creating a lot of articles for football players that fail speedy criteria a7 / WP:GNG. I would recommend taking your article ideas to WP:AFC. Happy editing! Hyperwave11 (talk) 23:58, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
I feel like there's a case to be made as to whether the article should be structured to reflect that, or if that warrants the bio structure you chose, but I feel like that should be up to a third-party, we've both let our emotions cloud our judgement and probably aren't the best folk for it regardless of qualifications. Hi, I see you made many AfDs for these players, which I an inclined to agree with you about (that being, without a name, how can we even try to determine notability). Would it not have made sense to have had a bundled discussion with them all together, given the vast number? If it then transpired any could be determined as notable or the names known, take them out. As it stands, they all seem to be in the same state with the same rationale. Just a thought. Hi there, just thought I'd say that rugby union and rugby league are different sports, and so rugby league players/staff/clubs/etc shouldn't be included in the rugby union AfD category. I appreciate it's a bit confusing and was likely a mistake from the thanks on the removal. Not sure there is a specific rugby league AfD category, so perhaps a message on the rugby league WikiProject might suffice given the number of AfD's. Many thanks.
