I have reverted the Huggle revert you made on Strawberry Lane, Hammond, Louisiana because the creator did not vandalize the article or add any BLP=defaming material. Monument101 (talk · contribs) improved the article and removed the prod. Prods can be removed by anyone, even the page creator (I'm sure you know this already.). Your final warning message to Monument101 is very bitey and may have caused this user to stop making improvements to the article. Could you strike out the final warning you gave to Monument101 and leave a message to the new user explaining that the user did not vandalize Wikipedia? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 06:19, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Reverting someones contributions more than once is a big no no, especially when it's not vandalism but true and verifiable information. Sometimes a 'gardener' can kill the flowers too. If you saw the film, you would know it's all true, but to revert something that you obviously have no knowledge about is lame.

Hello Alan - maybe you can tell me why all the edits about the Season 11 episodes are still being allowed when the only citations have been Twitter pages, unconfirmed blogs and "I am right, wait and see". I try very hard to get things right on Wikipedia, but I hope you can understand why it is confusing for some rules to be enforced and not others. If you cannot help me, perhaps you can refer me to someone who can? Thank you very much. Triste Tierra (cannot log in at work) 24.176.191.234 (talk) 19:38, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

The section that i removed was not ever proven nor did it include documentation. Historians have never accused Draza Mihailovich of mass murder. Specious, qualitative judgments of other people's edits based on willful ignorance and purposeful misinterpretation of important principles are against Wikipedia policy and have no business being committed here. If your argument isn't strong enough to convince your opponents (or anyone else for that matter) you have no business reverting an article using such transparent tactics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.32.188.25 (talk) 17:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

You, understandably so, wrote me informing why my edit to BYD Auto page was edited back out by Fleetham. I would like to petition an exception based on the "ignore all rules" idea of creating an honest, informative encyclopedia. The information provided is based on personal experience at the car show, observing the vehicles and people's reactions and critiques of the vehicles. I have a couple of pictures to back up the leaks I claim. I believe the idea behind Wikipedia and the "ignore all rules" rule is an open, honest, and unbiased source, even if that requires information to be based on personal knowledge. I am not attempting to discredit BYD, as I did not edit out any of the positive information, and praised the interior quality of the vehicles. Please let me know if seeing my pictures would allow my edit to stand. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.56.178 (talk) 13:17, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
I have recently added content to the List of Characters in Metalocalypse, only for it to be deleted repetedly. The content may have SEEMED offensive, but if you were familliar with the show in any way you'd KNOW that the content was true. On top of that all you would need to do is actaully read the article to realize that my content was verifyable, instead of reading the first paragraph of it and deciding that I was vandalizing. I think Wikipedia would be a better place if you wouldn't delete content of others in a subject you obviously know absolutly nothing of. And I know I'm not the only one you've done this too, and now your saying my account will be deleted because you know nothing about the articles you're supposedly "cleaning up". So from now on, before deleting the content of others, make sure you actually know what you're doing. Stay off of articles you don't know anything about if you're looking to clean things up. So what? Are you just going to not reply to this? I'd like an apology please. -Jordan
Hi! I noticed you reverted my edit of a link about the University of Florida. I changed that link because it was incorrect; the text of the article said something to the effect that the Gainesville campus was the third-largest in the US, but linked to an enrollment list instead, on which UF was further down. UF was indeed third on the campus-size list, so I changed the link thinking that was originally what the text of the article intended. I apologize if I made this assumption in error; otherwise, please change it so that the correct link is reflected in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.3.67.124 (talk) 21:16, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

It seems to me, that there is not room for a real discussion about subjects on Wikipedia.
Now, my attempts to reflect upon what thinking is, have been eradicated twice now, by
experienced editor's, without a comment. To me it seems that there is a censorship
involved in this type of behaviour, and that is, by my opinion not fruitfull for
the wonderful service that Wikipedia is. I am restoring my article on 'Thinking'.

Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia... Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism... Please read the Vandalism article again.
Please do not think highly of yourself to have the rights of accusing others of Vandalism. I have not done it deliberately in my attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. In what way was my edit unconstructive? Tabasco sauce is a condiment. Simply because you do not like the substance of another person's edit, you are not given the right to autocratically remove such contributions. That a condiment is being used as an ingredient in a product attempting to claim legitimacy, I believe, is a very relevant point, as a more legitimate product would isolate the active ingredients in that condiment and include only those, it is a matter of questioning the seriousness of a product. Don't change something simply because you don't like it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.73.34.109 (talk) 23:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

I had added a short paragraph on the meaning of "nitty-gritty", then you deleted it. There has been Web discussions about a non-documented idea about the origin of "nitty-gritty. I inserted this to clarify what "nitty-gritty" meant in this song. I did not understand your comment: "the meaning of the title is not meaningfully included". Had you meant that the deleted paragraph did not address the meaning of "nitty-gritty" in the title of this song in particular? Pete unseth (talk) 20:14, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Hi there. I'm curious as to why you reverted on these two edits. You don't really provide any explanation as to why you reverted it. www is no longer needed in domain URLs under http specs and is considered archaic, but the main reason for removing them is to prevent wrapping of the URL in the infobox. Adding back the completely superfluous wwws does nothing to help the links but more importantly cause them to line wrap. Canterbury Tail talk 18:55, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at New York City shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2024 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close on 31 January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), and Frostly (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! Question, is there any particular reason why you disagree that the birth year category does get listed first, example at Al Barlas? Various pages you have created in the past contradict this, such as Ellen Park, Shama Haider, Bill Moen, etc, where all birth year categories are listed first. The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.
Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:
As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. I can provide a source for when Johnny Sack mentions the condo in Season 4, that's no problem.

Hi @Alansohn:! I noticed you undid my changes to add NJ cities to the Cities in New Jersey category. I had a discussion with Aymatth2 on his talk page since he was the one who originally made the Cities in New Jersey a diffused category. He mentioned that it was added by accident and has made the category non-diffused. This is in line with the standard we set for all the other 49 states (cities in the US are listed under both the state and county-level categories). Just a heads up that I will be adding back all the cities. If this is a problem for any other reason, feel free to let me know. Aurangzebra (talk) 20:10, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.
The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:
In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.
Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. What's the deal with that? The quote isn't even necessary at all; one could easily just click on the citation and read it. Or they could click on the article link to the person's bio and read it there. Why the overkill? Fred Zepelin (talk) 23:40, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
That source that you keep on adding to that page is opinionated and it's original research, the same way you reverted all of the edits I made putting the rest of the counties in specific categories saying it was "original research" just because I have it a certain way. I don't know why you keep on removing the sources I cited and re-adding that source on those pages especially if the sources I added were more relevant to the pages. Those pages should have been left alone when I cited the sources to back it up.

The second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.
The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:
The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news credits and at least 200 did you know credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics and good topics.

I ran the error avoidance script I compiled in the past couple days in reverse to fix the 'comprised of' replacements within quotes that I accidentally made in my original replacement run, so most, if not all, are now back to how they were written in the source material.
Whether due to how the articles were automatically generated, changes to how individual districts are run since the creation of those articles, or a combination of both, I noticed that several New Jersey school district articles (such as Knowlton Township, Woodlynne, Brigantine, Pitman, Plumsted Township, New Hanover Township, and Magnolia school districts) listed board member counts that contradicted the figure stated in one of the sources given. As in most cases it listed 7 members versus the source's claim of 9, I'm guessing that while the board does have 9 members, this comprises 7 elected members and the two that those seven then appoint, with the source stating 9 being a database that doesn't take that into account. As I wasn't certain, I marked each with a contradictory tag until they can be reviewed for thoroughly, though if the boards in school districts of that type are indeed composed of 7 elected trustees and 2 appointed members, making that clearer would be beneficial. In the case of the Magnolia school district, the article had listed 5 despite the source again stating 9, so I'm not sure what happened in that case.
However, per the aforementioned inaccuracies, instances where number ranges are written like 'grades 10-12' instead of 'grades 10 to 12', and the outdated list of schools that was on the article for Trenton, New Jersey before I replaced it with an updated table, it seems that more effort should be put into ensuring that the hundreds of articles that you auto-generated are accurate, formatted properly, and remain up to date. It would certainly be more worthwhile than being deliberately contrarian about areas of focus of other Wikipedia editors. -CoolieCoolster (talk) 07:08, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi Alansohn! How about a compromise regarding location pushpin-mapping Atlantic City, Princeton, and Trenton onto North American maps, if not Earth maps? For example, Quebecois people may know that New Jersey is on the East Coast of the U.S., but they might still like to get a better handle on and context as to where, for example, Atlantic City is located relative to their own location, when they want to travel there. Seems like a pretty innocuous and potentially beneficial addition. All three of these locations are relatively cosmopolitan, and two of the three actually have commercial flights which may at some point reach Canada. What do you think? I thought that it would be highly notable to note that Ocean County, New Jersey is the only U.S. county named Ocean specifically because this is so incredibly surprising, given the geographical ubiquity of the word “ocean”; one might surely expect that if an Ocean County, New Jersey exists, then there most definitely must be an Ocean County elsewhere in the U.S., perhaps in Florida or California or Hawaii, or even in Rhode Island (the “Ocean State”). On the other hand, one might simply yawn to read that there is only one Bergen or Passaic County in the United States, because those are not common terms to begin with. Do you not agree? I know that uniformity on Wikipedia is usually beneficial, but when something stands out of the ordinary, I believe that the benefit of highlighting this outweighs the uniformity argument. The third round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 June. As with Round 2, this round was competitive: each of the 16 contestants who advanced to Round 4 scored at least 256 points.
The following editors all scored more than 400 points in Round 3:
The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed during Round 4, which starts on 1 July at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether for a good article, featured content, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please see this page. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Alansohn, so nice to meet you. Your active participation in Project New Jersey caught my attention. I'd be grateful for your help with additions I suggested to the article of New Jersey-based company Energy Capital Partners. Appreciate your time and input, Californiabri19 (talk) 23:09, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
