Intro: A common scenario is the tagging with {{Unreferenced}} of an article that has a general reference or an external link. Relevant docs @ Template:Unreferenced/doc and many previous debates @ Template talk:Unreferenced. Note: to self: Try to ameliorate sourcing problems first, rather than substituting one maintenance template for the other. Substituting e.g. {{BLP IMDb-only refimprove}} for {{BLP unsourced}} may be technically correct, but for the reader it doesn't matter which template is on the top of the article. Scenarios
- One source, not BLP
- BLP IMDb entirely
- BLP IMDb primarily
- Non-BLP BIO IMDb primarily
- Primary sources
- BLP primary sources
- Self-published sources
- BLP self-published sources
- Sources present, but no footnotes
- Film/TV-series article sourced to IMDb only

Others |
{{Cleanup}} |
Symptom: Article is tagged with {{Cleanup}}, but the |reason= parameter is missing, and no section on the talk page explains the rationale for the cleanup, cf. Template:Cleanup/doc: "Because {{Cleanup}} is vague, specific problems should be identified in the reason field; a more detailed explanation of what needs to be done can be provided on the article's talk page. An article's {{Cleanup}} template may be removed without the problems being fixed if it is not possible to identify what needs to be cleaned up." Drive-by tagging is strongly discouraged. The editor who adds the tag should discuss concerns on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable within the content policies.
