Spacial, or aerial reconnaissance, is the reconnaissance by surveillance aircraft, either by manned or unmanned aerial vehicles; or satellite photography. All aircraft and satellite photography are retrieved from either from sub-sonic, high-altitude aircraft, or satellites orbiting around earth in space.

In the civilian world, it is used to record and interpret archaeological sites from the air, or useful in discovering new sites.
However, in the military, it is mainly used to collect imagery, signal, and measurement and signature intelligence.
