My real name is Alejandro Guerrero Ruiz but my family keeps calling me Alex, or just "Tú".
I was born in 1979, in Barcelona, Spain, where I lived until 2001. I graduated that year in Political Sciences , at the Pompeu Fabra University, known worldwide for its cool trash cans. Despite the one million possibilities in the job market for a political scientist (sic), I decided to move to Madrid for grad school, where I got a M.A. degree in Economic development at the Complutense University of Madrid (I miss you guys). Again, there were plenty of openings for me at the job market (sic), but as I usually smile a lot during interview for scholarships, the Juan March Institute granted me with a four-year one (thanks!). After two years there, writing papers and narrowing the topics of my conversations strictly to my conversations to game theory, stochastical models, voting patterns and econometrics, they granted me a Master of Arts in Social Sciences. I fell in love again with Social Sciences, even if at the price of having no life for those years. But that was back in 2004. I'm currently supposed to be running for a Ph.D. at the Autonomous University of Madrid, but I have to make an effort to keep my adviser’s faith alive. I also got another scholarship by La Caixa savings bank (thanks again!) in order to write down my dissertation at the United States during 2006-2008 at Yale (done). When I first came to the US, I keep pronouncing Yale as in Jail, which really amused my fellow American students. As you see, anyone can be a grad student at Yale. It's not Harvard.
And, as I am getting close to the dreadful 30s, as God is my witness, I swear I won't apply for more scholarships again (never say never).
If really interested, you can read more about my profile and the usual professional blurbs here. Anyway, I would rather go here to procrastinate in a proper way.
