Forty two countries will participate in the 2018 contest. Russia is going to return after withdrawing from the 2017 edition, following the ban of their representative from entering Ukraine, host country of 2017 contest. While, Macedonia withdrew largely due to the failing attemps of qualifying to the final and because of the participation cost, whilst they're going to return to the future after improving the way they select their entry.
