The Siege of Algeciras during 1342, was a combined effort by the troops of Castile led by Alfonso XI, including the fleets of the Aragón and Genoa, with the objective of conquering the Muslim city of Algeciras. The siege lasted twenty months during which the population of the city, some 30,000 people, suffered from famine.
