Neo-Advaita is a New Religious Movement based on a modern, western interpretation of Advaita Vedanta, especially the teachings of Ramana Maharshi.[1] Neo-Advaita is being criticized[2][lower-alpha 1][4][lower-alpha 2][lower-alpha 3] for discarding the traditional prerequisites of knowledge of the scriptures[6] and "renunciation as necessary preparation for the path of jnana-yoga".[6][7] Notable neo-advaita teachers are H. W. L. Poonja[8][1], his students Gangaji[9] Andrew Cohen[lower-alpha 4], and Eckhart Tolle.[1], and Eckhart Tolle.[1]
