Salinas (full name Santa Catalina de Salinas) is a parish in northern Ecuador, 30 minutes from Ibarra the capital of the Imbabura Province. It lies in the Valley of Salinas near the Valley of Chota. The word "salina" is spanish for salt marsh, salt lake or salt pan.
