The Judiciary of Nazi Germany describes the dramatic changes in the Judicial system of Germany after the takeover of power by Adolf Hitler in January 1933. Within few weeks jurisdiction became a political instrument of the Nazi dictatorship. Jews, catholics, socialists and communists were removed from their posts within the judicial system, and people were not any longer put on trial or killed by the authorities only for their criminal acts, but also for their beliefs, their origin, their faith, their political or their sexual orientientation or because they were handicapped. The mentioned groups were incarcerated, expropriated, expelled or murdered. The Nazi Judiciary is in hindsight considered responsible for allowing and overlooking the most atrocious crimes in history of mankind and for the violation of every kind of civilization. In response to the cruelties of the Nazi regime, in 1945 the United Nations have been institutionalized and in 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been adopted by the family of nations.
