From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Depending on their initial mass, proximity to other stars, composition, and other factors, some stars will undergo energetic explosions as a part of, or as an end to, their life cycle.
There are numerous explosion types that differ in their energies, mechanisms, progenitors, emission spectra, and remnants. Our own Sun will eventually evolve into a faint white dwarf star and will not undergo an explosion.
