The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about Shashwat: Shashwat is one of the few sentient beings present in the universe. After the destruction of Earth, and before the creation of Earth 2, Shashwat survived when a freak incident caused him to be sucked up into a wormhole. He was the main reason why the Earth was built in the first place, because his brain contains the correct question to 42.
The question, due to the generosity of Shashwat, is reproduced here:
AbdofEagb n33rfv joedzvon b89h53bo sffkgvldg 9uj034tges nv vofgo-jawelj zbf'pkgadginb43t? (Shashwat did tell us what the question means, in English, but when the reporter tried to note it down, the notebook spontaneously combusted, along with his brains. He now lives in a forest believing that he's Goldilocks)
