Hello, I am Akshay Anand. I am a native Kannadiga and hail from Tumkuru, Karnataka. I'm a creative individual skilled in multiple disciplines; planning, organizing and managing are my key interests. I am passionate about the technological advancements and their applications in healthcare and an ardent follower of branding and brand philosophies. With a master's degree specialized in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, I'm currently working as a Regulatory Affairs Associate in Personal Care and Home Care Division of ITC Limited at ITC Life Sciences & Technology Center in Bengaluru. Drug Regulatory Affairs is a field that changes every day, imposing newer challenges making way for opportunities and raising the need for stringency and simplification at the same time. I have been working in the arena keeping this as focus, simplifying the procedures and pathways for regulatory approaches.
I am a digital artist and graphic designer. I am passionate towards branding and I have designed several logos and identities including the current crests used by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, JSS College of Pharmacy and Sri Siddaganga College of Pharmacy. I am an editor on Wkipedia from around a decade. Apart from these, I am an avid PC gamer. I have worked on game development, software testing, creating and designing visual identities, logos and concepts for user interfaces, consumer products and apparel. I have also served as social media lead for events at national level; as technical lead, creative lead and editor for several institutional publications.
I was also a video-game modder a few years ago, known by my screen name zaxotes along the web where I used to mod Cricket 07. I have nurtured my skills in digital art from this hobby and now I have an advanced knowledge in graphic designing and motion graphics. I have expertise in Adobe products, CorelDraw and other image and video editing software packages. I have also served as beta tester for few video games. I can handle and work with platforms such as Windows, Macintosh and Android fluently.
I completed my schooling upto Class X from Maruthi Vidya Kendra, a prestigious institute in the heart of Tumkuru city. I then joined Sarvodaya Pre-University College, Tumkuru for my Class XI and XII, referred as Pre-University Course (PUC) in Karnataka. I studied Pharmaceutical Sciences for my Bachelor's Degree (B.Pharm.) in Sri Siddaganga College of Pharmacy, Tumkuru, under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru and continued with Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs in JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru to obtain my Master's Degree (M.Pharm) from JSS University, Mysuru. I interned with Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a Government of India Enterprise, Bengaluru and underwent training in Hetero Drugs, Hyderabad. I have served as a Regulatory Affairs Specialist in Quality Assurance - Regulatory Affairs & Compliance in Lotus Labs Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Allergan, Plc, USA (formerly Actavis Generics) which was later taken over by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. I am currently working with ITC Limited, one of India's largest FMCG Conglomerates.
I am a wikipedian since 2009. I edit Wikipedia mainly in English language and my native, Kannada language. I enjoy editing articles related to Video games because I am an avid gamer. I have also edited/created articles about Kannada television shows and artist bios. The list of articles I have created and edited on the English Wikipedia can be found at the bottom of this page. As I am native Kannadiga, I have plans to translate few articles into Kannada language in future. I personally believe that a person can learn so much by being an editor here. I am also an active member of the Counter-Vandalism Unit and strive to make Wikipedia free of vandalized stuff.
The areas I'm currently focusing on Wikipedia is Kannada Television. I may initiate a WikiProject on the same but I am not sure about the people who might help. I shall keep working on this and I appreciate anybody who wants to help. The intention of this initiative is to re-write and detail the articles on Kannada TV channels on Wikipedia. As I am also a graphic artist, I would be recreating the logos of these channels as vector images. I would also be working on a template for Kannada channels.
As of July 2016, I have around 1500 edits on Wikipedia and I have created around 15 articles here. I am an active member of a few Wikipedia Projects, the list of which you can see next to this text as userboxes. Userbox creation has become an addiction recently. You can find the gallery of userboxes created by me here.
