The School of Indian Legal Thought was established in 1989 to impart an integrated legal education imparting unique programmes for 5-year BA LLB (Hons.), 3-year LLB and PhD. One of the major objectives of the School of Indian Legal Thought is to undertake systematic research and study of legal thought and legal materials as they existed in ancient India, to critically examine those ideas and concepts in the modern context, and to integrate them rationally with the modern ideas, concepts and institutions.
