The Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly, the major advocate of the proposal, is a global network of parliamentarians, non-governmental organizations, and scholars advocating for elected representatives, rather than just states, to play a direct and influential role in shaping global policy.[1] The Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (CUNPA) was formed in 2007 by Democracy Without Borders[2] (formerly Committee for a Democratic U.N.) to coordinate pro-UNPA efforts, which as of June 2017 has received the support of over 1,600 members of parliament from over 100 countries worldwide.[3][4]
