This template is the project banner for WikiProject Writing systems, a WikiProject concerned with the improvement of content, coverage and organisation of articles and other materials relating to writing systems.
The template is to be placed on talk pages of the articles identified as being within the Project's scope (at or near the top of the talkpage). It contains some brief information and links for the Project, and also an expandable view of the Project's current priority open tasklist.
This template automatically assigns the appropriate subcategories of Category:WikiProject writing system articles to the articles' talk pages. This category and other associated Project categories are used in various ways by the Project in the overall management of the Project's workload.
This template contains several (optional) parameters, details of usage are given below.
General syntax options for this template are as follows:
{{WikiProject Writing systems
|class=
|importance=
|attention=
}}
The parameters are named, and (if used) must be entered exactly as-is (note, all are lowercase).
The class and importance parameters are associated with the Project's article assessment and rating scheme. These parameters add a category to the talkpage, which category depends on the values chosen.
This optional parameter records the Project quality assessment rating currently assigned to the particular article on whose talkpage the project banner appears.
If unassigned, or an invalid value is given, the parameter defaults to "unassigned" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unassessed Writing system articles.
Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (e.g. |class=GA ):
Value | Meaning | Category |
---|---|---|
FA | Articles which are currently Featured status articles | FA-Class Writing system articles |
A | A-class articles; | A-Class Writing system articles |
GA | Articles with a current Good article status | GA-Class Writing system articles |
B | B-class articles; | B-Class Writing system articles |
Start | Start-class articles; | Start-Class Writing system articles |
Stub | Stub-class articles; | Stub-Class Writing system articles |
NA | Not applicable; for miscellaneous pages which do not require an assessment | NA-Class Writing system pages |
This optional parameter records the Project priority assessment rating currently assigned to the particular article on whose talkpage the project banner appears.
If unassigned, or an invalid value is given, or the class parameter is set to "NA", the parameter defaults to "unassigned" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unknown-importance Writing system articles.
Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (e.g. |importance=Mid ):
Value | Meaning | Category |
---|---|---|
Top | For "key" articles, considered indispensable to any survey of Writing system | Top-importance Writing system articles |
High | For High-priority topics and needed subtopics of "key" articles | High-importance Writing system articles |
Mid | For Mid-priority articles on more specialised (sub-)topics | Mid-importance Writing system articles |
Low | For still notable, but more highly specialised or even obscure topics | Low-importance Writing system articles |
This optional parameter is used as a flag to identify the article as in need of particular attention and review, such as in cases of dubious factual material or POV concerns.
If used, the parameter adds the Category:Writing system articles needing attention. This category is monitored by the Project.
To set this parameter flag, use |attention=yes .
