Talk:Heirisson Island

I've changed the statue date from 1997 to 1984 as per the Yagan article and the statue plaque. Not sure if the 1997 date was significant for another reason. I also found some photos from the NLA about a 1978 Land Rights camp on the Island. Nachoman-au 16:42, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

The Statue does indeed date from 1984, but the current head dates from 1997. The original head was cut off and removed by person or persons unknown, as was a replacement. The current head looks different to the original one, as it is apparently based upon a study of the real skull, which was returned to WA immediately before the vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.39.162.130 (talk) 09:14, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
