I think all the stuff in the later paragraphs need to be removed - this is an encyclopedia, not a travel guide. While maybe the railroad lines are noteworthy, a bike rental is definitely not. For such things http://www.wikitravel.org would be the correct place - sadly we cannot simply move the text there as it uses a different license. andy 20:21, 5 May 2004 (UTC)
A fact from Wörthersee appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 6 May 2004. The text of the entry was as follows:

Yes, you have a point there. I wasn't aware of the existence of wikitravel. My idea was that English speaking people who look up Woerthersee are likely to have a touristic interest and may therefore find the information useful. I've moved the text I've written myself to wikitravel and will delete the irrelevant parts.
I think it might be wise to note the fact that the Worthersee also is home to one of Europe`s biggest Strandbads (beach/bathing). It has been noted that the Worthersee is home to numerous non-public, over-priced areas , but the Strandbad on the Klagenfurt side offers a resonably priced alternative for everyone.
I think that there should be a fairly large section devoted to what is possibly the single largest event in the european Volkswagen and Audi car scene (if not the world), which takes place in Wörthersee every year, and as evidence, one could simply google "VW wörthersee" or an image search for "wörthersee" will turn up huge amounts of photographs of some of the most highly modified and trend-setting automobiles in Europe.
Not to mention the huge parties associated with the event...
