- I've found that you can NOT rely on Maps to provide correct information regarding routing etc. This data is often wrong, especially for Nova Scotia which isn't important enough for the mapping firms to take the effort to create maps with totally accurate information.

- There are no route markers designating Bedford Bypass as Highway 101 that I've ever seen. It takes you *TO* the 101, but that's it. Bedford Bypass is an unsigned route, but it SHOULD be signed as Highway 7, with Dartmouth Road being changed to a 7-A designation. That would give Magazine Hill/Bedford Bypass a complete Route 7 designation... but NS-DOT does sloppy work and when they build the Bypass, which came after Magazine Hill, they didn't bother to clean up the route numbering. Big shock there. The 101 designation ends at the Bedford/Sackville interchange at the 102. This interchange is planned for distant future upgrading, and will be a connecting hub for the numerous routes in the area (1, 2, 7, 101, 102, and possibly a future 107 extension now that the original path for that has been partially lost). For this reason, proper traffic planning would go against giving the Bedford Bypass a 101 designation... that would mean the Bedford Bypass would suddenly change mid route (where Magazine Hill begins at Dartmouth Road) into Route 7, which wouldn't make any sense from a traffic planning perspective. -Dezzo

I believe the Bedford Bypass is not part of Highway 101. Some government documents (like ) make a distinction. Google, Mapquest, etc have been known to be wrong on things like this. Kirjtc2 17:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Kiirjtc2 the Bedford Bypass IS part of the highway 101 because I travrl on it everyday an see the signs . The google map does comfirm it is on Highway 101 Check your source before delete verifable contributions --Vic 22:50, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

There are 101 and 103 signs on Bayers Road too. Doesn't mean they're part of the route. I've been on the Bedford Bypass too and there are no more 101 signs going east past the 102. It only says "TO 7". Kirjtc2 23:00, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Its all because HRM gets money for road maintence I can even get picture of it . I worked for the dept of Highways and its VERIFIable Stop vandlisting the pages --Vic 23:33, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I've got a picture of the "TO 7" sign too. No 101 sign in sight. Signage means nothing because of the NS highway department's signage policies, unless you try and find some scheme to make Bayers Road part of 101 too. No reputable map I have shows it as part of 101, and even NS provincial legislation makes a distinction between 101 and the Bedford Bypass. Furthermore, as a Wikipedian since 2002 and the author of the old Nova Scotia Highways website, I'm as far from a vandal as you can get. Kirjtc2 23:54, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Also, do a Google search for "bedford bypass" +101. Every hit I get says something about how "101 turns into the Bedford Bypass", or "take the Bedford Bypass exit off the 101", and I even found one HRM bylaw that lists it as 7! Kirjtc2 00:15, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I lived here for 47 years and you live in Fredericton how do you know so much about Halifax ?

Between Exits 2 & 3, I have long noticed a closed-off ramp between Hwy 101 and Hwy 1. This is in Upper Sackville. If one were driving on hwy 1, it can be seen when between the east and west ends of Patton Road. I am 29 years old, living in this area all my life, and this ramp has been closed as long as I can remember. Does anyone have any info about this? My best guess is that it was an access road for hwy 101 construction.
