Knowing about this article from Village Pump, does anyone object to turn this page into a simple disambig page? -- Taku 13:24 3 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Okay. I will leave this to you. -- Taku
I just removed the following: "The name seems blankly prosaic because the British generally usually use the word "sea", while the French the word "mer". The French ship wasn't named for any of these, but for the Roman mythological giant river, or giant snake Oceanus, which encompassed the flat earth in their mythology. Thus the ships are instead named poetically, but this fact was lost in translation. But the French also use the word "ocean" to refer to part of the Atlantic."
Ocean is exactly the same in English and French. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.210.191.140 (talk) 12:49, 21 January 2006
"but the ship had to be in bad shape before it would be replaced by a new-build. " Would someone like to offer a clarification of that phrase, it makes at best marginal sense in context... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.159.44.170 (talk) 22:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
