The former East Prussia had no mountains.
What do mountains have to do with booze? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.228.8 (talk) 07:35, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Being a German I believe bear catch would be a better translation. "Der Fang" would be "the catch", so this would seem to make far mor sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.50.200.21 (talk) 12:37, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Trying not to get in an edit war here...
User Wahrmund and I have a disagreement about which picture looks better. I feel that my picture (left) is the better representative. Wahrmund feels that his (right) is better.
A bottle of Bärenjäger, a brand of Bärenfang produced in Germany and bottled at 35% ABV.
I would like the community's thoughts on this issue. Thank you for your time! WDavis1911 (talk) 01:21, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- I would suggest the leftmost image, it has not the over exposure, and vibrancy of the image on the right, which doesn't look as authentic. Hope this helps! Huckleberry113 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:30, 3 September 2010 (UTC).
- Clearly the picture on the left should be used as our work should most accurately reflect the item being described.--Craiglduncan (talk) 17:55, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Rightmost image doesn't have glare over writing though. Just my opinion. --SteelersFanUK06 HereWeGo2010! 01:30, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Rightmost image has too unrealistic colors to be used, but leftmost has a glare. Not sure what is the easier to solve for a graphic editor. --Anneyh (talk) 08:51, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- The image on the right is the better quality image, but it needs a color adjustment. The white balance of background needs to be adjusted so that it is more white and less yellow, which will improve the color of the entire image. This is very easy to do - takes about 1 minute with Photoshop.Vapeur (talk) 11:36, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I thought about that btw, and I tried but the problem is that the base colors are actually missing. I.e., the underlying color information is actually missing, not just off-balance, so I wasn't able to reintroduce it to a realistic hue. WDavis1911 (talk) 17:28, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Please see the adjusted picture which I have placed in the article. Perhaps this will suit better. Wahrmund (talk) 18:56, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
The tint from the surroundings is gone, but it is still not right. In the picture on the left, you can see that the leftmost character has an outfit consisting of red, brown, green and yellow. The leaves in the middle are a vibrant green. This is missing in the one on the right, even the newer one. I don't like the glare in the photo on the left, but I think that is minor compared to the lack of proper coloration in the photo on the right. I could photoshop the glare away, but I don't like doing that (levels, contrast and such I have less problem with, but I don't like going beyond those things). I'm glad we are getting outside opinions on this. I just have to think that a picture that shows the true colors of something, even with small lighting artifacts, is a better representation than a picture which is substantially and irreparably hue-shifted. This article should likely be renamed Barenjaeger as opposed to Barenfang. I am under the impression that in the United States it is sold only as Barenjaeger. While I can not speack to Britain, Canada, etc., for the English version of Wikipedia, ultimately the English version of the name should be the primary article name.Nicholas Nastrusnic (talk) 02:14, 18 March 2019 (UTC) correction: Barenjager Nicholas Nastrusnic (talk) 02:15, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
